  • Hey, just noticed you're from Australia! I absolutely love the way you all speak the English language. Tickles my ears and gives me goose bumps. The only other group that comes close is those with a Liverpool accent -- perhaps I feel that way because I grew up listening to the Beatles.

Me, I just speak boring Midwest/New Jersey mush.

  • Matt, thanks for the compliments the other day. Gotta say you're pretty dang good! Your work is diverse and very well crafted. Your lines and forms show a joy that bubbles up into the eyes of the beholder.

    And--

Doesn't bug me at all that your g-novel doesn't have a Christian theme, I learned a long time ago that the Father doesn't require us to limit ourselves to overt Christian and Biblical themes. That He simply enjoys when we use the gifts He gave us. I mean, a Christian sprinter doesn't run in New Testament clothes just to make sure everyone knows he's running for God, right? He runs fast because he was made that way and God takes delight in His unique creation.

I don't lose any sleep over the matter . . . sorry for rambling.
  • hey, me again. just wanted to mention 'cause I checked out your deviant art the other day and I noticed you're into Frank E. Peretti- I've done a bit of work inventing characters for the classic 'this present Darkness' and I think it would be worth doing a GN of one day if some other's were to take up the idea too. Or even some of his short stories would be easier- 'the Cooper kids adventures' are really cool. It would be interestign to see if you could get it published.
  • that's cool that you're freelancing- so do you get any other Christian org's hiring you? (sorry if I'm pumping you for info) things are working out good this week, I've got signwriting work a couple of days and I've got about 6 caricatures to do, so I hope I get time for my personal projects. Would be good to hear what your 'boss' there says. thanks.
  • Hi, Matt! Check out my CCAS blog for the latest preview of Erica's and my new serial, BEST MANN FOR THE JOB!

    :)

Have a great weekend - God bless!
  • I think it would be pretty cool being involved in the Bible S. - trying to create relevant art for stuff that gets published pretty widely. A few years ago I tried to send some mock ups of my Prodigal idea (1st version) to some contacts I had (including the Bible Society in victoria) but there was very little interest so I decided I had to finish it on my own and then try and hunt down some publishers. but I've always thought it would be great working with a Christian organisation especially for comic tracts. Maybe I COULD send you guys a folio- I'd have to organise it first :) They ovbiously already have some talent so do you think they need any other artists?
  • hey, It's cool that there's quite a few fellow Aussies here (& they're Good Artists too!) viva la revolution. your work is inspiring thanks for posting. Looks like you've done a fair bit of stuff with the Bible Society, how did you get into that work?
  • Thanks for the nice note, Matt! Good to have you here on CCAS too! I hope you have a great year of opportunity and drawings you are proud of!
  • Well, the artist of Cranky Bob the Cactus. How you got 5th place in Nate Butler's contest baffles me. Just kidding. I really enjoyed your entry. Welcome to the CCAS. There are a number of people from Australia. I visited your deviantart site and your work is outstanding. There are so many talented brothers and sisters in Christ on this site. May the Lord ricly bless you, your family, and the works of your hands.

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
