Spirit Knight issue #4 - Devil's Canyon is almost finished! Myself and artist Troy Gustofson are planning to go over the final edits this weekend and then its off to the printer. For those of you not familiar with our story, Spirit Knight is the story of Sam, down and out, backslid Christian that has given up on everything and everyone...but God hasn't given up on Sam! Sam is a hesitant recruite into a spiritual/physical battle happening before his own eyes. Sam has choice...join the war vs. Satan's demon seed...or do nothing at all. What would you do?You can find more info about us at our website: http://www.spirit-knight.com and you can take a look at a preview of each issue here: http://www.spirit-knight.com/story.html (including issue 4).We really want to bring this story to a mainstream audience. WonderCon has been a great way to deliver the story in a non-confrontational way...some of our biggest fans are non-Christian and we hope that through our stories they come to see the love God has for them. Thanks for all the support! I hope to see you at WonderCon!-Bryan Merohttp://www.spirit-knight.com

Need an artist!

I have a novella that I would like to release before next Christmas, and I'd like to find someone to do some illustrations. I'm looking for 10-12 black and white, single page drawings, plus a color cover. Would gladly pay for the right artist to do the job. The War Eagle character who appears in Super Girlfriend is involved in the story. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

ArmorQuest online!

Today marks the first day of WebComics.cc's presentation of ArmorQuest: Genesis! With amazing artwork by Sherwin Schwartzrock, WebComics.cc is presenting the entire epic series from the issue #0 prologue story to the giant sized #6, in its original black and white, showcasing Sherwin's talented pen!ArmorQuest is the story of Timothy, a young boy from an unimportant village who finds himself facing the ultimate choice: risk everything to save the people he loves . . . or do nothing, as the people he loves are doing. It can be seen as an action adventure story of courage, or a spiritual allegory. But however you look at it . . . you won't want to miss it!~ Ben

Ok, this is my first time posting meh news on here. But I live on deviant art and myspace.Lightning Prophetess:I was down for 3 weeks so I am furiously coloring the next installment of LP#8. I have bought an Canon scanner and all the inks look a lot better on there than my HP one. Crisp and awesome. I will have that up at my new site: www.lpthemanga.com tonight or early Christmas morning so you can get my Christmas present for the fans. By the way the girl in the banner is the Lightning Prophetess herself. I may be adding more stuff at the LP site tomorrow. Hopefully some cast profiles. The update will also be at Cyberlight Comics as soon as it is received.Meanwhile, the LP sourcebook will be available for purchase after I upload this after New Years's through ka-blam.com via indyplanet. If you want to see some prelim art from it and the cover go to my deviant art page: http://mizzshan.deviantart.comI will be posting another host of previous from there. It is a little something until I get the graphic novel version of LP ready for you by Spring. The sourcebook are pencil sketches as well as exclusive cgs of Lightning Prophetess and the cast. As well as character designs and exclusive CG artwork. You wont regret buying it!Stories in development:Trial by Lena. This will be pitched for www.wirepop.com as an online manga. Due to LP being prepublished @ cyberlight I can't use it but...this story is uniquely another Christian shoujo manga. The premise:Melvena "Lena" Watson is a 16 year old with a knack for trouble. She moved with her evangelist mother from Chicago to Charlotte, NC to start a new life. Lena does not like her new surroundings. A promise from her mother that she would get a car if she starts straightening up her act, i.e. being active in church. Lena takes up her mom's offer and tries to be good to get what she wants her car. So at the urging of her mom she joins the choir. Where she meets the energetic director, Solomon Barnes. Solomon takes a liking to Lena and Lena starts to learn unconditional love. The adventure begins with these two. It is a Christian romance shoujo novel and in about 2 months will show a preview of the one shot of Lena.Enough news from the studio-till next time.-Shan.PS. What I've been doing these years...

I've been turning my back on you in shame and disgust with myself, treating you like some kind of skip tracer that has found me and has come to collect on a very long standing debt. When I think of the CCAS these days, I think of the unanswered question "When can I expect to sell copies of Galen the Saintly #2, #3, #4 yada, yada, yada, all the way up to #10 at the next San Diego Comic Con? The grandparents I've been talking to have been asking about this wonderful character that you have seemingly murdered in cold blood before his great potential had a chance to be realized."

Funny how the Devil can at one point jump all over me about money debts that I haven't paid and then almost in the same breath nag me about comic book debts that I haven't paid.

Well, I guess it can't hurt to look at your forums and try to find out what you guys are up to.

Just what are you guys up to?

1. I'm currently in the middle of a comic pitch based on a 1980scartoon, one that I'll be co-writing with a certain voice-over actresswho played the main character. I can't say exactly what at this point, but if you can read between the lines, you'll know what I'm talkingabout, cuz I'm not exactly being subtle, ya know.2. You know that Tantalizing Ti-Girl manga book I keep pumping images of here and on LJ? Well, guess what? My daughter, Charis, will be writing a short back-up feature for the book. So, yeah, that'll be her first published comic book story (not bad for a 13-year-old, huh?) in a book written by her dad. How freakin' cool is that? I'm so excited. I think I'm more excited than she is.

December Sun - now an online daily webcomic

December Sun is now online daily mon-fri as an ongoing webcomic. I've been gradually working through the panels of issue #1 (already printed as a comic, available at comixpress.com) and I'll contine through issues #2 and #3 (both printed as well with comixpress) then I'll move into the completed art and story for issues #4 and #5 (not printed, but mostly completed) and, as we speak, I'm drawing issue #6 and 7. I'm hoping I can keep up with the schedule.I'm doing this for a few reasons:1) I've wanted to get all of this online in a consistent manner and a central location, so this is the chance using the Wordpress Comicpress format.2) It's a chance to expand on my awful php skills, and develop this both for the site and for other ventures, and...3) It keeps me accountable to keep drawing this, and not to waste time with online games at sites like kongregate! If you get a chance, check it out. The site is dscomic.com

This just in from our very own Membership Coordinator, Eric Jansen... :) ******* Hi! I’d like to officially welcome you to the Christian Comic Arts Society—or CCAS—Website! I’m Eric Jansen, the CCAS Membership Coordinator. Thank you for being part of the CCAS Website! We’re over 400 strong and growing all the time. But there is much more to CCAS than the Website. CCAS has existed for over 20 years through the following: ALPHA-OMEGA—The Christian Comics APA-zine! ALPHA-OMEGA—or A-O—is currently on its 144th bi-monthly issue! In case you don’t know, an APA-zine is an “Amateur Press Association magazine” and usually consists of photocopied pages of art, writing, and reviews on, in A-O’s case, all things Christian, comic book, and Christian comic books! This is an interactive forum, wherein members from all over the U.S. (and a couple of foreign countries) critique each other’s writing and art, and regular participation is expected. There are no dues except for postage and you must cover photocopy costs for up to 30 copies of your (con)Trib(ution). Please contact me if you are interested in joining—right now, we have room for 5-10 new members. MONTHLY MEETINGS—Some of the founding members of the CCAS lived in the Los Angeles area and began having monthly meetings starting in 1988. So, the monthly L.A. meetings have played a very important part in the formation of CCAS and continues to this day as it has for over twenty years. If you are anywhere within driving distance of L.A. and are interested in attending, please contact me as soon as you can. And, actually, I would appreciate EVERYBODY reading this sending me their contact info—there may be enough Website members in certain areas to start new chapters! (San Diego and Florida are looking pretty good right now—and who knows where else!) We even have an African chapter that has recently begun—CCAS-Afriq! CONVENTION MINISTRY—Members all over the country have represented CCAS at many comic book conventions across the country through the years. Please contact the Convention Organizer Ralph Miley if you are interested in helping at any CCAS table at any con—or perhaps starting one! We have maintained an especially strong presence at the San Diego Comic-Con (with a regular table/booth, a Sunday service, and a Spiritual Themes Panel), and the L.A. group has begun having regular tables at Wizard World L.A. and Wonder-Con in San Francisco. PUBLISHING—For the most part, CCAS is not a publisher. But its members have always produced quality Christian comics, notably PROVERBS AND PARABLES headed by Ralph Miley and published by New Creation. A few others, however, are indeed considered CCAS publications—like Don Ensign’s annual GUIDE TO CHRISTIAN COMICS, and the STREET COMIX series which I edit (including the well-received LONELY LADY, HOMELESS HARRY, and VENGEANCE IS MINE) because CCAS has played a significant role in their creation and they carry the CCAS logo. Other books, like Gerry Lee’s SONS OF THUNDER have been submitted for and granted CCAS approval and also carry the CCAS logo. THE CATALOG—Though not a publisher, we have put together a catalog offering our books and those of our friends. With over 40 comics, graphic novels, and ashcans offered, this is a must-have for anyone building their Christian comic library. SPECIAL OFFER!—Contact me immediately if you want to order A CHRISTMAS TREASURY! (84 pages, B&W, perfect-bound.) With 12 Christmas-themed works by pros like Gary Shipman and Ben Avery, as well as fun stories by myself, Kevin Yong, and Robert Flores, this is not to be missed! A $10 value, I will ship it to you immediately for only $5, plus $1 for postage! (Sorry for the late notice!) Whether through the Website, Alpha-Omega, the Monthly Meetings, or even Convention presence, CCAS is the place for Christian writers, artists, colorists, and publishers to come together and create stories from a Christian perspective for fun, profit, and/or evangelism. There is a LOT to CCAS! If you are interested in any of the above—or have any questions—please contact me, Eric Jansen, directly or Assistant Membership Coordinator Scott A. Shuford . Thanks for your time! God bless. Eric Jansen Membership Coordinator

Christian Presence at WonderCon 2009

Three Christian tables have been confirmed for WonderCon 2009 in San Francisco, California. Exhibit organizers have graciously placed the three tables next to each to form a Christian block. Crown of Life is at SP28, the Christian Comic Arts Society is at SP29, and Red Machine is at SP30. This should a great time of fellowship and for opportunities to share the gospel. Pray the Lord would be glorified and that the Holy Spirit would move on the hearts of the attendees.

Friend Needs an Artist for Quicky Project

A friend of mine in Houston forwarded me this urgent request. If you can help out contact her ASAP, at: ming4king@yahoo.comBob,I need help for a friend. She had arranged for a guy to make a 5-6 panel black and white cartoon based on her and her sister (very cartoony and based on her adventures with her sister using thier nicknames Twinkletoes and Saggybottom-I think) to give to her for Christmas. Now the guy skipped out on the job, leaving her with nothing to give her sister. Do you know anyone that can do something likety split for her? She has offered 100 bucks for the job. If you know anyone that might be interested (CCAS folks?) please forward this to them. You would be her hero (and mine)if you found someone.Jennifer King

Hey Everybody:I was the dreamer who wanted to be an artist/ writer, now I have begun to realize that goal. My first graphic novel (a novel in comic book/illustrated form) is designed for children and anyone else who has an unlimited imagination. I hope to do glory to God and pray I do not fail him.It is entitled, "The Improbable Barnsy: A Pocket Full of Teeth" and is Christian themed with a whirl wind adventure about love, redemption, forgiveness, and doing the right thing. The style is cartoonish/fantasy, but touches upon real struggles and triumphs that children and adults face all the time. The hero of the story, Barnsy T. Boxcar, is a 4 foot tall pelican who lives in a world of unlimited possiblities.Created, written, lettered, drawn, and colored by me, Kurt Lewis, and published by Living Word Publications (LWP). Below is the link to where it can be bought as a hardcopy and as a download. It is being published and sold through by lulu.com. I wanted to share this news with everybody, because it was an eight year journey to get here and it was worth it. Many of you had offered encouragement and advice, and for that I thank you. If you would like to see sample pages, they are at the lulu site.Don't worry, I won't keep bugging folks, just ask that people pass on the fantastic news. I PUBLISHED MY BOOK, AND I HOPE PEOPLE BUY IT AND ENJOY IT.Always,Kurt Lewishttp://www.lulu.com/content/5217344
