Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:

My professional career includes comic book editing, writing, lettering & typography, as well as extensive work as a digital prepress production artist in the print industry. My educational background includes a focus on Christian apologetics and philosophy. My "fan" interests include Golden Age and Silver Age superhero comics, Japanese giant monster films, science fiction & fantasy, mythology & folklore, and the works of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.

My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)

I was baptised into a Lutheran church as an infant, raised in a Quaker church. Began to take my faith more seriously as a teenager, spent my high school and college years attending a non-denominational Evangelical church. Participated in the certificate program of Christian apologetics at the former Simon Greenleaf University (now part of Trinity International). Later, while in college, attended a small Southern Baptist congregation where I met my future wife, and we are currently attending a local nondenominational church. My spiritual journey has taken me in and out of various degrees of social activism, political conservatism, emotionalism, intellectualism, Arminianism, Calvinism -- but through it all, what matters is not what my own personal struggles or interests may be at any given moment, but the love and mercy of Jesus Christ at work in me.

Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)

My ideal would be to have the time and resources to devote full-time as writer and self-publisher of my own various comic book series. If the question is about playing with someone else's toys, my dream job would be a scriptwriter for DC's "Legion of Super-Heroes".

Favorite Comic Creators:

My ecclectic mix of favorite comic creators include the raw imagination of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby; The script pacing and interwoven subplots of Paul Levitz's Legion Of Superheroes; The characterization and worldbuilding of Kurt Busiek's "Astro City"; Artwise, I like a wide range of styles and as a visual storyteller I'm fond of the rock solid consistency of Curt Swan, the detailed draftsmanship of George Perez, and the panel layouts of John Byrne.
