  • Hi Sergio, me again. I got the copies of the New testament Picture Bible that I ordered, and just wanted to let you know you did a great job on it. I'd be interested to know how long it took you to do each page and how much of a deadline your client gave you, if you feel like sharing that information. Reason is, I am drawing a 24 page Jesus comic at the moment (hard to condence the life of Jesus into 24 pages, let me tell you), and in order to hit their deadline I am having to pencil a page and a half a day, and I'm struggling, man, find myself working late into the night most nights to catch up. Any tips/trade secrets/advice you could give would be oh-so-gratefully received.
Are you ploughing through the Old Testament now?
    Cheers Sergio.
  • Hi,sergio, just wanted to throw my props out to you.Excellent work and story telling.Glad to see someone turn out quality like that.God bless!!
  • Thanks Sergio, I'm glad my words came at the right time for you. I know what that's like! And thanks for the reminder about the body of Christ, the spiritual battle we often forget, and the hope we have for heaven and eternity with Christ.
And thanks for the link, I'll go there and hopefully be able to pre-order. Can't wait, I love the original Picture Bible, and as I have said before, from the pages you have posted, I predict (without the gift of prophecy) that your version will be an instant classic.
May God bless you and the work of your hands.
  • Your art is just awesome.
You are an inspiration to christian comic artists, your stuff is the real deal; raw talent that has been polished and perfected by years of hard work, I'll bet. When is your Jesus comic due to be released?
  • HA! I wish you could be here, too! I'd love to see you draw also! You'd go crazy in animation, it's like watching grass grow! I can't believe I did it for 15 years! We don't animate (traditionally) very much anymore. Most of our work is development art- character design, storyboards, direction and lots of side illustration projects. We couldn't draw the TOMO comics if we wanted to, with the $ and time involved! We have a group in the Philippines that do an incredible job! They really put a lot into it and we couldn't be happier! We do draw the covers for TOMO and create the story outlines for Jim Krueger to work off of. It's been an adventure that we have loved, but wish Z would get more people to see them- as I'm sure you do too. God bless, Brother!
  • Thanks Sergio, it's an honor to be in any group that includes you. I'm a fan. Love the work you are doing on Son of Samson, and keep wondering how you are able to get the 150 pages done every book! On top of your other "mainstream" work too! Just fantastic! Keep up the wonderful work, I hope we can meet one day!
  • Happy New Year Sergio. Would you be interested in contributing a sketch to the CCAS sketchbook? Also, will you be at Comic Con in '09? God bless and look forward to hearing from you.
  • Outstanding work Sergio! I like those Christ pages. And that barbarian saving the damsel was cool too.

Keep up the good work & Happy New Year!
  • Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.
  • HI Sergio,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
