New Webcomic location

Hello, Friends,

I don't know how many of you noticed that I posted my webcomic about a week ago. Well, I did. It's called Legend of the Sword Bearer, and it's a fantasy comic.

Anyway, I had posted it on a platform called Tapastic. It's a good platform, except for the fact that they have a lot of overly sexual comics. And they allow them on the homepage. Then there's the language. They allow too much swearing in their comics. I mean seriously! One of their featured series is called Big F***ing Hammer" and the F*** was not bleeped out!

It was too much. So, in protest, I will not be publishing another page of the Legend until they fix it. I filed a formal complaint, hopefully they'll listen.

Until then, I plan on publishing my series on DeviantArt. They aren't much better, but they do have better filters. You can view my page here

Next Project

Hi All:

I'm still kicking and still drawing.  Been drawing alot more these days, thanks to God's provision in the form of "Quitter" by Jon Acuff, pick it up if you get the chance.

The reason for this post is help on deciding my next art project.  I'm almost done with my current project, posting soon, and need a new one to work on, progress through, and learn from.

I'm hoping you guys can help me choose my next project.  I'll list the titles below and whichever gets the most questions about, I will undertake, after praying about it of course.

1.  Zombie vs Robot.

2. The Eschotologist.

3. 2 Kings 13:21

4. Rugby Bros

5. Heros Guilt.

I'm also thinking of taking on another Kubert correspondence course, the story graphics course to give me more structure to learn through.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any help you can give.

3448615604?profile=originalOne of the things I always find slightly funny, and a little disconcerting, is the way some Christians behave when it comes to elections, political parties and even nationalism itself. This seems especially true during that not-so-wonderful time of life when election season rolls around, and people who used to be your friends start giving you dark stares for not supporting their favorite presidential candidate…or worse, questioning their favorite political party. It reminds me a little of those dark days of the time referred to as the “Civil War” when everyone was forced to choose a side, and anyone who tried to remain neutral was often mistreated, persecuted and considered a traitor. Amazingly, that bloody conflict (in which an estimated 1 million men, women and children were killed) involved many professing Christians on both sides. Imagine how the Gospel could have advanced throughout the country had this conflict been avoided. Blessed are the peacemakers?

Artist Interview: Melchizedek Todd!

3448615653?profile=originalI recently had the privilege of catching up with Melchizedek Todd, a talented Christian artist who utilizes his awesome God-given skills in some unique ways – namely through illustration and the creation of Weaponpress.com! Melchizedek Todd (MT) writes that, “Weaponpress.com is the beginning ministry God has called me to do, which is what He has called all Christians to do – and that is repeat what Jesus accomplished on earth. Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, made disciples, preached the gospel and so forth. This is our calling (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-18). With that, God has given me some talents to advance his kingdom. The graphic novel series Allegories of the Way is the premier vehicle that is being used now. More aspects of the ministry will come in time, and as God reveal them to me, I’ll share them with you.”

Senior Year!

Hello CCAS goers!

Mia is in her final full semester in college, followed by two classes in the summer. After that it's the big real world and the art that I choose to give it.

My senior classes have been a challenge in figuring out "what i want to be when I grow up" and I doubt that anyone has truly figured that out. But I am trusting God's direction and purpose in my life, and I'm trying not to plan too much (I really love to plan :] ).

i have considered where and how I want to work and I have a great love for designing other people's characters or trying my hand at drawing the designs they already have. I have worked with a few of the members of CCAS and enjoy continually working with y'all.

So as I continue to make a professional place for myself; website, resume, cards, portfolio and such, I would like to keep you all in the loop. Once my schedule becomes more clear and my focus goes towards my life outside of school, I will be very open to work on larger projects.

I know in the past, CCAS has started small projects and independent teams that want to create something bigger. I want to be aware of these plans and point out that I may be for hire in late 2016. We'll see where God leads me in terms of part time or full time positions where I live now, but if y'all would pray with me for God's perfect direction and peace. As well as for my boyfriend, Aaron (who is also graduating at the same time as me!).

Game Design: Journey and Christian Art

3448615543?profile=originalIt’s been several years since the hit game “Journey” came out on the Playstation 3 game console. However, as I recently played it through the Playstation Now Subscription Service (via PS4) for the first time the other night, I was so impressed by the experience that I thought it worth devoting a little time to talk about this brilliant piece of interactive art – and how it might relate to Christian creativity!

Putting it simply, I think Journey is a perfect example of the kind of game Christians will want to look at if they’re interested in creating art (in the form of books, game design, music, etc) that help communicate our message to the world. Journey, which was released in March of 2012 by Thatgamecompany, beautifully conveys a moving story of a character as they walk, glide or fly through a series of stunning environments. And while it certainly isn’t a Christian game, it’s the kind of experience that is accessible to all – which is what many Christians working in the arts should be mindful of working towards.

3448615510?profile=originalWhat if Gene Roddenberry (the creator of Star Trek) or Isaac Asimov (scientist and sci-fi author) had been christians? It might be easy to think, as I once did, that if these two brilliant and extremely creative men had been followers of God, then they surely wouldn’t have developed the amazing works they are known for. However, I think this couldn’t be more wrong!

I am feeling the love! Hollywood Jesus just did a review on my comic book, AN ACT OF FAITH...

"Nickerson does a wonderful job of telling his readers the story of the Ark, allowing these books to be great gifts, even for kids who maybe don’t know a lot about the Bible. Combined with characters that are easy to relate to, even if they are superheroes, and highly detailed drawings. Graphic Novels live and die by how the drawings add to the story and the An Act of Faith series does not disappoint. Characters are distinct and unique, and the world they inhabit is crisp and fun."
