  • HI Steve,

Happy Thanksgiving, at least here in the US! I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

    At Your Service,

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
  • Didn't know about the children's song, Steve. Interesting! One old site (no longer on the web) said: "Hampson was always equivocal about his religious beliefs..." That being so, I believe he was not able to endure the spiritual attack upon his life (which almost ended it) around 1959-60 when he barely completed the "Road of Courage" strip and left comics for good.
  • Hello, Steve, I quite like Frank Hampson's work, too, and own a couple of old EAGLE weeklies from 1959 with the back page "The Road of Courage". This was Hampson and scripter-editor Marcus Morris' picture strip on the life of Christ. Beautifully drawn!

You can see my own work here:

since it's free....for real tools however our school uses www.lightfootltd.com/ products! I'd also buy "The Illustion of Life," "The Animators Survival Kit," and "Timing for Animation"
  • Hey Love the comic guys on the London scene! :o)
  • Cool! When you're "customizing the appearance" of your site, you can pick a theme (I had chose "Berlin"), then when you scroll down it should have a section where you can edit the "header" by uploading an image. Click that and there's an option for "existing image", I right-clicked and saved that image on my desktop, opened it with photoshop, added my work, resaved it as a jpg and uploaded it.

I'm not sure if that was clear enough (I'm not very good with directions), let me know if you have any more questions....
  • Hi Steve! Thanks for dropping by! Sorry, I'm not familiar with Impact Magazine, but I believe I've seen the Horrible Histories and Horrible Science collections in bookstores. Just popped by your webpage. You have a great sense of humour!
  • You know I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your angel strips! :-D
Um, yeah JK isn't exactly something I went into doing for fun, but the comic will have a funny side to it with the JK manga version in the same issue. I get to have the same characters in funny situations, and be light-hearted. Still I admire someone like you who has a great sense of humor with his art. :-)

  • Welcome Steve! I just joined a few weeks ago myself. The Zuda thing went well. I finished 6th, which is cool, cause now I get all my rights back. The first full Araknid Kid adventure will be at SugarySerials.com this summer (direct link to my series is www.araknidkid.sugaryserials.com )
    sugaryserials.com is almost here!
