  • Hi Ralph,

Thanks for looking at my illustrations. To answer your questions regarding why they were created: a little of each of the reasons you listed. Some of them were done for portfolio work, some of them were illustrations for RPGs or for the e-zine Baen's Universe. Now that I think of it, I think of it I've never done any private commissions.

All of those are pretty old illustrations. I haven't updated for a long time because I've been teaching myself to paint traditionally with acrylics. The learning process was not a pretty one. I'll be keeping those catastrophes locked away in a drawer.

    Thanks again for your interest.
  • Hi Ralph, Scott Shuford told me to give you a shout.

My band is interested in featuring comic art at our shows, selling prints and completed books, flashing art on the screen behind us as we play, and even writing songs around storylines from one of the series.

We are dedicated to using our music as a bridge between the secular culture and the mostly unhip Christian culture. Kieth Gandy, Missionary to Germany, has found great success in using music and the general arts to form an effective platform for sharing the gospel in a culture more secular than ours. America seems slow to catch on, but we are finding churches more and more to be excited about stepping onto a cultural medium lost people really want something to do with. We find most artist and musicians to feel "stuck" in trying to push the Christian medium forward when the churches are so slow to react, but we also find that the more people we bring together, the more gets done. We hope that featuring Christian comic art at our shows can help propel the medium into the culture, all the while helping us to reach lost people who are interested in seeing what kind of cool stuff we bring to our shows.

So let me know what you think. Check out our music on myspace or on our websight. If there is anything we can do to help this sight and the vision you guys have, we would be happy to offer our services.

    Peace and Blessings,

    Joshua Keeling
  • I look forward to making some new connections here, Ralph.

Let me know about Wondercon. If you're interested, I'd love to have you include some of my books in your mix.

I'm trying to decide about CCI this year, as I've been on a five year continuous run and might consider taking a break this year...which not only saves me from a week to 10 day interruption of my work on EW4, but also saves a bunch of cash. But I'd really miss not connecting with all my friends out there!

So, still mulling the pro's and cons.

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
  • Ralph, hi there!

Husband is a sweetie. If you wish to email him and ask for some art, he'll definitely do it for you. The trouble is he's not online as often as I am but email him. See what he says.

Yes, it's a lovely cover. Thanks. Am presently in geek heaven, am reviewing a puzzle PC game called safecracker.Super fun. -C
  • Ralph,
Hi, saw the website; very cool, some great stuff happening!

    Luke McD
  • Happy to be here! I just realized that I wasn't here already!!! DOH!
  • Thanks once again!! I will go to his page and see how it will work out. May be sometime in the evening. Now I have a friend visiting me from another field.

Thank you Bro. Ralph Ellis Miley, a nice name.
  • Thank you brither for taking time to write to me.Thank you brother for your input in this issue. Would you please introduce me to the person you are refering? it would be of great help that I can share my concern and my intentions. I have seen some of the comic books in the market and approched the publishers seeking permission for reprinting the same in the language that I am working. But there were so many technical reasons they were raising. I t would be easier for me to get the soft copy (editable) so that I can replace the text in our language.

I think you get me, if not I will write in detail.

    Love and regards

    Markose
  • Are you sure we're the first hubbie/wife team on CCAS, Ralph? That's quite an honor if so. ^_^
