  • Hi ya, I know you like Christian comics so I know you'll love The Word for WORD Bible Comic(Unabridged, historically accurate graphic novel of the Bible with a high view of scripture. For ages 15+)

To complete the first book I need your help, as I am raising funds on Kickstarter. My passion is to get God's Word in full into the hands of young believer and unbelievers and comic lovers of all ages, in the hope they will come to really know God. Please check it out at the KS page, it's going well but I still need lots of backers so I hope as a CCAS member you'll please pledge to support this project...

  • John,
I really enjoyed the "JONNI STAR" comics you sent! The second one was far better than the first, in art and writing. I was knda dissappointed that the JONNI strip was only ten pages in issue one. After all, the comic was in her name, but more than half was filler material. Just a minor complaint, tho!
Overall, it's a great character with a lot of potential and interesting deveopments with the shadowy figures watching her progress and what will happen with her sister?

  • Sounds like you're keeping quite busy! My wife and I own and operate a Dry Cleaners, so we stay very active. Do you have contact info for Ken Leach? He's one guy I've been unable to track down.

I do remember Jonni Starr. How do I get a copy of her comic?
  • John, good to touch base with you again. Family and work took me out of commission as far as comics for about 15years. But, I'm slowly making a comeback and enjoying it all.
Right now, I' just trying to renew some old friendships.
    God's blessings!

  • Yep, John, I wouldn't of said if I didn't mean it: you are indeed one of my favorite comic creators. I look forward to future adventures of Jonni Starr. Thanks again for your assistance with Code: Evolution.

God's Very Best to you and yours!
  • Thanks very much! :)

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
  • Hey John,

Thanks for checking, am doing better than I had expected. Still sore and a bit tired if I overdo it, but definitely on the mend. Suspended lettering on Jonni Star for a few days to rest-up. Hope to send proofs sometime this week.

What do you think of the new Shazam! book DC just released?

    God bless,
    Jimmy

  • Kurt Schaffenberger died a few years back, alas. But yes, he was one of my all-time
favorites. You can find some of his early DC work in SHOWCASE PRESENTS SUPERMAN
FAMILY Vol. 2, currently available. And of course, long before that work, he was a
stalwart on the Marvel Family at Fawcett (and later again at DC, of course).
