Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:
I am a talented networker and public speaker, but still progressing in my passions as a writer, and cartoonist. Ultimately, a lover of Marvel Superheroes, Star Wars, Star Trek, TMNT, and graphic novels and comic books in general who wants to change the world through individuals by calling them up into their God-given identities, and teaching them how to work together in unity as individuals, rather than conformity to Christianese clones.
My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
My priorities in life are: Freedom, independence, creativity, and fun. Now, how's that's all achieved can come down to deeper things such as wisdom, intelligence, and compassion, but...that's a whole 'nother story. XD
Either way, hey. My legitimate goals: I want to make art to make art. And I mean that metaphorically. Are you confused yet? ;)
We're all masterpieces, breathtaking expressions of the master artist. Judging art is stupid. It stands on it's own, as the expression of the individual. The thing is, it wont all be brought to completion until we're all up in heaven. In the meantime, though...creation reflects it's creator. And we should let the artist continue to create us...as well as allow him to work through us as his vessels to bring His other art pieces to completion.
It's working together in our individuality that creates the reality of unity that changes the world. It's in our differing strengths, weaknesses, and even preferences that we create the body of Christ. We are all different parts from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences, but beautiful art pieces communicating God's glory. It's when we work together, rather than judge one another to conform to each other, that we become what God has made us to be, and bring the masterpiece to completion.
Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)
Entrepreneur
An organization that creates art to create art. And I mean that metaphorically. Are you confused yet? XD

Hello Hailey! Thanks for the welcome! :)
Weird… I'm sure I was somewhere, but maybe whoever you asked didn't really know. Or maybe that was one of the days I missed? I dunno. We had 4 first year classes this last year, and we spent most of the time just with that class… there wasn't a whole lot of intermingling going on, which was kind of weird sometimes.
I get what you mean about the life drawing. For some reason I thought we wouldn't have to do it when we were 1st years… but I found out on the first day of school we did. And I had very mixed feelings about it at first. The very first class we had a female model, and I had never done anything like that before, and I had no idea what to expect, and yes, I'm a Christian, and yes I'm married, and I was super uncomfortable… at first. But it's not really what you think. You are timed, you have like a minute, or 3 minutes, or 5 minutes to draw the whole figure, and so you don't really have time to "think" about it… you just draw. And while you are drawing, you are looking at angles, and energy, and structure, and mass, and twists, and folds, and it's way more objective… you are trying to observe proportions, and value, and boney land marks… I dunno. It's just different. But I get where you are coming from. Honestly though, I think the life drawing class affected me the most, the way I draw, and the way I understand the figure. The biggest thing that editors kept telling the 3rd year students they reviewed this year was, anatomy, anatomy, anatomy. And that's after 3 years of life drawing. How much harder will it be to nail anatomy without that class?
Is that the only reason you don't want to go?
Really?? That's awesome! :D Ha, how was the tour? Did you go into any of the classes, meet any students, talk to any teachers? I might've seen your group… that's crazy. Can I ask why you decided not to go there?
Hey thanks for the welcome! Sorry I took a little bit to get back to you. Praise God for your testimony- it sounds like He is working through your life. :)
By the way, charming drawing style. God bless!
Hi Hailey, great news about the internship - congratulations! Hoping you have great fun and also grow in faith while serving our King. Every blessing, Andre.
Thank you Hailey for your very wonderful message, I live about three hours away from OKC, to the northeast. I will be posting some art soon on a project my brother and I are working on!
In response to your question as to whether or not I'm going to post some of my comic book work, the answer is yes. So far the comic books I've published were very low key and just distributed locally (mainly in the small town I live in) Right now I'm working my first major comic book. I'm planning on having it premiere sometime this late summer. I'm also in the planning stages for a website for it. I'll fill you in on the progress of it in future posts. I just don't want to post anything on it until all the wheels are turning, know what I mean? By the way I saw on your profile that Tom DeFalco is one of your favorite comic book creators. I've been a major fan of his work since I was a little boy. My all time favorite works of his in the comic book industry are The Amazing Spider-Man, The Mighty Thor, Thunderstrike, and Spider-Girl. I'm also a fan of Mr. DeFalco's long time artist collaborator Ron Frenz.
