into the thick of things with Christian comics these days.
(I just picked up HAND OF THE MORNINGSTAR #1 and
2 at the comics shop last week.) Currently I'm doing
Spanish translations for Buzz Dixon's GOOFYFOOT GURL.
Still hoping to get Jonni Star back into print someday soon.
I'll send you a private message on your cover.
It's been so long since we worked on that one, I'm not sure anymore. It sounds like it could have been in the original Korean text though, and maybe just tweaked a little bit.
I see Samson's story as a wonderful cautionary tale. To some extent, Samson's story is everyone's story. We've all been blessed by God to do wonderful works, but when we focus on self, that's when it all falls apart. One of the most haunting verses of Scripture to me are in Judges 16: 20, "But he did not know that the Lord had left him."
Anyway, the Son of Samson series touches on Samson's failings as much as his triumphs and mixes in plenty of spiritual lesons along the way.
I don't want to give too much away about Hand of the Morningstar, but the differing uses of the name "Mornigstar" does come into play.
Since I seem to remember that you enjoy anime and manga, you may also like TimeFlyz and Tomo.
"Son of Samson": I think Samson is one of the biggest losers in the Bible. Only God's grace and mercy made his life worth telling, in my (probably clueless) opinion. So I really didn't want to read about Samson's son, but... all the reviews I'm hearing make it sound good, plus, you join the writing team in book 3, right? Steve MacDonald likened it to Conan, which I used to love. What does that say about me? I didn't buy the book because I don't like Samson, the mighty womanizing warrior, but I'll buy it because it's 'like Conan' the mighty womanizing warrior...ooh, what a hypocrite I am...*sigh*
Hand of the Morning Star: I'm weak on Biblical imagery... Is the devil the 'Star of the Morning' or is the Lord Jesus Christ 'the bright Morning Star'? Both? Or neither? Guess I'll find out next week:)
God bless you and yours,
Gerry Lee
