  • This is so amazing!!
  • very cool looking

  • Impressive! Do you draw them all frame by frame? I posted some videos I produced, but they are much lower quality (but I suspect lower effort as well - the two always seem to go hand in hand).

I was also looking at some recent advances in computer software - there is a free site now for generating 3D Anime characters in VRM format, which you can then import into Unity 3D to pose and move them etc. You can then use a “toon” renderer to make them look less 3D and more like a cartoon.

There is also interesting work going on for backgrounds. It is becoming common to take a photo of the real world for a background scene, “toonify it” (I just made that up), then do some final hand editing. Its faster than drawing everything by hand. Particlularly used for complex city scenes.

Another fun technology was some people using the HTC Vive Virtual Reality headset to record body position movements, which they then fed into Unity 3D - so actors did the character positioning just by moving their own body, and the anime character automatically followed along. (I work in computing if you had not guessed, so the computer side interests me as much as the result itself.)

But I am resisting trying it all until I get what I started finished. Using different techniques the result comes out looking very different. So once started, really need to push it all the way through to completion. Hence I want to complete my planned series of 12 comic chapters, the equivalent 12 animated videos (like I just posted), then go back and see where all these tools are up to. At my current rate, that might be a year away still 8-|
  • We've trying to produce the J5 anime here in Brazil. It's been little by little because the costs for an independent product are very high. But we will get there in Jesus name.
