Yes, there's an unwritten rule that it's socially acceptable to tell ethnic, racial, blonde etc. jokes if one is a member of the "in-group" being made fun of. For example, my son was adopted from India. On 9/11 a few days ago he was showing people a silly Internet meme that reads "7/11: Never forget" & pictures a somber-faced Indian-looking guy running a convenience store. My son, & everyone else in the room, thought it was hilarious, esp. because HE, the Indian, was displaying it. I told him only he could get away with that. (He was in a room full of white people at the time.)
This is precious. I've been to many African-American church services and am always impressed with the call-and-response, engagement and feedback found there. The preacher seldom has to worry that he/she doesn't know what the congregation thinks, feels. And if folks are silent and still...well...that's NOT a good sign. Means he (or she) aint gettin' thru...and that aint good, naw.
You know Steve the sad thing about it if these guys were white some people might be offended. But since there is an unwritten rule that it's alright for black people to make fun of black people(and even make fun of white people, and everyone thinks it's alright to make fun of asian people), this pass the mark and is O'tay.
So wrong, but so so funny.
