  • Thanks!  I intend on practicing your tips tonight.  I looked through your page btw,  and I love your crosshatching!

  • Hands are hard to draw because they are complex and we see them every day, so we don't really *see* them anymore in the way we need to in order to draw them. You did a decent job, but if you'd like some tips:
Proportion - hold your hand up to your face. Generally, hands are the length of the face.
Shape - make a fist. From your wrist to your knuckles is boxy. Your first two knuckles are bigger and protrude more. Your fingers form a curve whether they are clenched or open.
Overlap - even when all your fingers are splayed out, you only see all of each individual finger if you are looking directly at the front or the back. Fingers hide each other to varying degrees all the time.
Emotion - after the face, hands are the most expressive part of he body. Clench your fists and you'll subconsciously clench your jaw and frown. Splay out your fingers and your eyebrows may raise as well. Gestures have a lot of emotional energy behind them.

Keep it up - you have a great sense of whole-body gestures already!
