  • this is a difficult pose to pull off, because it's hard to draw people looking down without making them look fat from their neck folds, or showing enough of the character's eyes at this distance to show that she's looking down mostly with her eye's, and not the bend of her head.

what to do? reference. get your model to pose some more, experiment, experiment, find out what works for you.

this is almost copy and paste advice, but you would benefit from life drawing and books that teach the basics of life drawing. if you're uncool like me and can't get out much, i recommend: http://www.pixelovely.com/gesture/figuredrawing.php ...but be mindful of who might walk in on you if you're drawing people in the nene. life drawing, and gestural drawing more specifically, is important because it teaches you to convince your viewer that your subject actually exists in a context, and isn't so transparently a comic book symbol for a character. the less in-the-way-of-believeability your art can be, the more your reader gets out of the experience.

i'm glad you're showing us work now!
