  • I like the anatomy of the torso on this character in black and white. I'm glad that you are thinking about your demo reel as well. I'm sure that you will do a great job on it. You can do anything you put your mind to. Just don't go overboard (lol)!
  • Thanks for the help...I was trying to imitate that stylized concept art for "Susan" that was in the "Monsters Vs Aliens" book, very skinny and sharp bends at the joints...but I didn't look up traditional cowboy poses until after I drew this...If I could get him skinnier and more organic which is what I think you're talking about with the curves and all that, I'd have what I was thinking...I want to take this concept to the full CG stange...rigged, textured, all accessories modeled (I found some cool refrence for that and all I need is to make sure my work is consistent), the whole nine yards! A demo reel from me is long overdue, so expect to see more from this (once school starts up again and I can borrow a scanner) in the near future!
  • I like the guy on the top best, I think it's cause his legs are smaller, so he feels a little less human.

On the more finished sketch, I think the areas that need attention are the right foot and the shoulders. The right shoulder seems too far out from the body. The top of the body should be more round, with the shoulder attached a little lower, and closer in to the spine. That would help him feel more animal-like. The right footis too much like a tracing of the left foot, so try pulling that leg out to the left side of the page a bit, and turning it more toward us. That'll help the feet feel asymmetrically posed, and more natural, like you've got going with the arms.

    Keep it up, man!
