Graphite pencil abstract drawing of a draft horse. Horses are so popular to draw that in order to draw one, you have to have something new to say. The dark lines represent the direction of force and weight, and I also emphasized the texture of his hair and the roundness of his belly by using negative space.

  • Thanks :) I thought this one was pretty successful, and I drew a deer in the same style since I like the white tails so much :) my sister (next door) does wildlife rehab and our yard and woods are full of half-tame deer. I'll have to put that one up next time I feel like tackling my senile computer.
  • Your "expressive white space" is a definite strength I've seen in several of your pieces.  I like it!

  • It isn't a very good scan :( My pencil strokes for the hair texture are blurry here. It's much better in person.
