Thanks for the remarks guys. I thought of making her a devil or spirit(Imp) and I felt like that would have been predictable. However I found out Imp also means "mischievous child", and when I saw that, I went for it. Then I thought of a time era that would be interesting and it made me think of the Boylen Sisters or Queen Elizabeth I, thus the head piece and dress. I thought about the traditional head piece for a princess but then I thought "she's a defiant, dark, damsel", although she's a child she's probably acts too grown-up to be a delicate princess. However maybe I could have played a little more with the facial expression if I did do the traditional princess head piece. Maybe next time.
BTW, I just want to encourage everyone to try and do a concept character. Think of 2 or 3 different characteristics and a type of creature they will be. It forces me, at least, to think of the person I'm drawing before I start adding clothes and facial expression. Because then, you are no longer coming up with a cool pose, but you thinking how would this person look or feel and why they are standing this way.
It's a wonderful drawing! Kind of curious why you went with a simple medieval headress rather than some kind of crown or tiara sort of thing? The context of the story will easily explain why she's so short, rather than tall and willowy. A small set of horns if you decide she's an imp would look cute:) I love her expression and posture!
