  • HI Rob,

Happy Thanksgiving! I didn't want to leave you out, sooo... I'm Scott A. Shuford, one of the new Board members. I wanted to stop in and say thanks for being involved with CCAS! If you have any input or would like to be involved with anything in particular, please let me and Eric Jansen (Membership Coordinator for CCAS) know by contacting us both through the site. We'll be making several announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. To see a bit more about me, check out my profile here on the site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
  • I use illustrator and photoshop quite a lot for my artwork. Illustrator is perfect for cartoon imagery, while photoshop lends itself nicely to the more hand painted look. It's also great for adding some 3D effects. Of course, it can also be used for photo-realistic subject matter. I've still been thinking about your theological fruits and how fun of an idea this represents (both in the movie and cartoon). Some of the best things people love and birthed from goofing around. I liked also how it stimulated interest in some of the early church leaders as well, juxtaposing their realistic poses with the comic look of the fruit. More people today could benefit from learning about what some of these guys thought, and this could be a clever way to get people to pay attention.
  • Hey thanks for the nice words you left on my page. I enjoy working in 3D, I dont know it half as well as I'd like. It takes a lot of time but the results are pretty amazing when your done. I have not ever used Blender, I'll have to download it and play around. I started out using 3D Studio way back in the early 90's, then moved on to some Lightwave, then a little Softimage, then Bryce and finally I have Maya which I am still learning, I have long way to got but I understand 3D space so that helps a lot, now its just learning where all the buttons are ,ha ha. The teach a course here at the local Junior College on Maya that I am thinking of taking, I am sure it would help greatly.
  • Thanks for the add, Rob!!!!
  • Hi Rob,
Thanks for the kind words. It was a good way to welcome me to this place.

  • Hey Rob, just checked out your site. Nice pencil work bro. I like your original work.
  • Rob -- It's been years since I've run a photo of myself in AO,
as nearly as I can recall. So I'm not surprised that you
haven't seen me before. Conrad Janis, eh? I've heard
the name but can't really say that I'm familiar with him.
  • Hi Rob! It's great to see you here:) The cover of your "Reformed Theological Fruits" is so cool! I wasn't expecting December Sun to go for the leotard and cape look, lol. I'm sending you a 'friends' request, 'kay?

God bless you, thanks for all the help with my 'tribs
    Gerry
  • A big bullish welcome to the king of kept, slightly out of date produce. Be sure to keep them out of the December Sun! :)
