Hey, I'm curious if there is a group here for "webcomic publishers", and if not, could something like this be created? (if this exists and I missed it somehow, please forgive me!)I've been trekking along with my webcomic (dscomic.com) for a couple months now, and so much of what I've been doing has been an independent learning experience. I'd like to start networking with other Christian webcomic creators more, to get some ideas of how to promote a webcomic, advertising, sidebar links, hosting, etc, etc...Would anyone else be interested in starting a Christian webcomics group and sharing ideas?Thanks!

I did check out the site, and there's some good stuff there. I'm going to bookmark and revisit. The only suggestion I'd make is, I'd enable commenting on the individual blog posts. I think that makes a difference and helps build traffic (or so I've been learning as I read more about web traffic, etc.)
Also, a link to December Sun on the Links page would be a nice touch, too.... :)

I'm Clint Johnson, long time CCAS member and partner in New Creation Entertainment. I really appeciate your weekly prayer request. I'm on the list as cdj_2004. Back to the web comics... our site that features our web comics has been uo for just about a year. We took the route of starting our own because at that time we desired to put what God has given us out there. It was like pulling teeth at first. There were so few Christian sites. WE found a free host and built our own. We agressively use social networking, blogging and email blasts. We offer a store, current events, a gallery, links and our brand of Faith-based webcomic titles. As much as possible we try to update regularly. Usually weekly.
I'll tackle your other questions as soon as I have chance.

Rob - I sent a message and left a comment with the admin account, because it seems there is no "+ start" or "+ add" option for groups. Hopefully, I'll get word back and we'll get this up and running!
The beauty of Cyberlight Comics is we are not seeking exclusitivity. We encourage artists to put up their comics on as many sites as possible, like a light on many hills. So, if you would get X number of hits for your comic on your site, chances are you'd get X+Y hits by mirroring the comic on Cyberlight, since there is little chance of having a cross sample audience. Furthermore, we can put links on that Cyberlight hosted comic back to your pages, increasing the chances for even more hits for you.
Bottom line, for a small amount of effort, you get added exposure for your site and your comic, which leads more people closer to God.

Our requirement for comics are simple: That they be clearly designed to lead people closer to God. Check out our website and you'll find an interesting variety of comics. Some seem to hit you over the head with scripture, while others teach a lesson a little more discreetly. Some feature some very adult themes (and even language/violence) to make a point, others are visual descriptions of scriptures.
If your comic never mentions God, Jesus, etc., nor makes an effort to show sin in a negative light / following God in a positive light, there MIGHT be a concern. You could always send us some samples, if in doubt, and we'd be happy to provide some feedback :) First, however, check out the site, look at the other comics, and read our submission guidelines.
Even if you feel like your comic does not fit, for whatever reason, feel free to join our boards, chat with other Christian artists, and tell them about what you are doing. Most of the people that are there are very interested in webcomics :)

We provide free hosting, and we do aggressive advertising so you can focus on what you do best... make comics!
