hey friends, just wanted to drop in a note and let you all know that my project Defenders of Eden has been going extremely well as of late. I have been working on it for about a year now, we finally got to a place where we have stuff to show fans, share, and even a bio book! The power con (a convention specifically geared towards Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) in California was an amazing experience. Can't wait to share more about it. here's a picture!3448613157?profile=original

DEFENDERS OF EDEN

hey friends, just wanted to share what has been happening in life lately.

Defenders of Eden facebook page has taken off. Feel free to search us on fb, and like us, and share us!

our desire is to build a small (or large) fanbase before we start our kickstarter page to print our first comic book.

we are getting wonderful response on it, and can't wait to share more images of our characters. we are systematically sharing stuff, so that we just don't overload with everyone. I am curious to see what people say about each person, what their thoughts are and if they like them.

thanks friends! we appreciate your support!

NEW DISCIPLE 6 SYNOPSIS

greetings fans and friends alike. recently I have heard 2 great pieces of advice. #1. do not get synopsis and story mixed up. I really relate to this one, because sometimes I feel it is so hard to describe my "story" and that leads me to #2. Telling your synopsis in one to two sentences. if you can't tell it in that, you don't know your story well enough. This one really gets me also. Because I do get my story, I wrote it. But i struggle with describing it. so here you have it folks. Synopsis & Story of Disciple 6.

Disciple 6 is a story about a select group of individuals chosen by a supernatural power to walk past their own deaths and into a bigger destiny. Upon the horrific deaths that each of them endure, they are posed with a simple questions: Continue to the afterlife? Or a new chance to live? With new found abilities, each one of The Cast battles with their own emotions, and have questions about purpose.
Our stories begin with the wait for the next member to die to this world, and arrive in the afterlife. But quickly all plans chance when The Rook, founder of The Cast is confronted by a higher power, telling him to send who he has to rescue someone who is special to them. Rook stays and awaits the next member's arrival, as he sends Vionne, Hazard, and Cordite to save someone they have never met. Little do they know that the someone is actually a something.
Drawn in a traditional comic art style, Disciple 6 has an original concept to back up the great art. Readers that enjoy team dynamics, complex characters, and exciting storylines will find Disciple 6 right up their alley!!

Let me know what you guys think!!!

WWJD in publishing a comic????

Greetings friends.Alot has been on my mind lately about my comic book titled Discipl 6. There has been one constant from the beginning that has alway been a battle, which is the approach, or angle my comic comes at. what i mean by this is, frankly I dont want a christian comic. I dont think thats "all" its suppose to be. In an earlier discussion I have spoken about the separation between the christian/non christian "products" and how I view them. I strip it all down, and ask that silly, childish, yet meaningful question, "what would jesus do?"I dont think he would write a "christian" comic book. Jesus often found himself in the center of everything that was "the world". Loving those who didnt yet believe, but had open hearts to hear good stories, and a great message. This is how I feel about my comic book. I dont think God wants my comic only sold at churches and youth groups. WHO does that reach? (no offense to my church! lol) but I want to share these stories (which I believe I wrote USING the gifts God gives me) with EVERYONE.We are covering a series at church called "the prodical God" (also a book) it is VERY VERY interesting, and I encourage those of you to look it up. The reason why I bring this up is that Jesus would tell these parables to the "sinners" AND the teachers/pharisees. He told stories to EVERYONE.I know that at the end of the day, I might have christians thinking I am wrong for NOT making this a "christian book" and others thinking i am wrong cause this has "christian themes".This is where my mind is at lately. shouldnt I want to GRAB this WORLD by storm with my stories??Just wanted to share somethings, thanks for reading if you are.how do you all feel about the topic?? do you think its wrong that it has a completely christian theme, yet I am reluctant to call it a christian book??

Disciple Six Synopsis.

D6Imagine living your life, searching for a purpose, a meaning to it all, only to discover that in death you will finally achieve that purpose. Disciple 6 tells the tale of six such individuals from many different paths. Living lives of faith and compassion only to have them horrifically ripped away. Yet they have been selected and given a choice: continue to heaven, or return with a gift that could change the world. Long ago a being known only as the scribe, trusted guardian of The Domicle Archives (the physical records of all names marked for heaven and hell), was charged with forming a team to prepare for the coming wars. Throughout time he has set apart those worthy to serve.First there was Zacheaus, or Z [code name: Rook], a man from biblical times whose life and death remain a mystery to even those closes to him. Next came Robert Ward [code name: Vionne], the group’s field leader, a knight of medieval times stabbed from behind by his own power hungry cousin. Then there was Anthony Childress [code name: Hazard], a strong yet gentle man who grew up as a slave on an early plantation, whose throat was cut after attempting to escape to freedom. Moving ahead to Abel Kissinger [code name: Cordite], a young art teacher, is chosen after saving a young girl from a fire. Then came the 5th member, a unique man named Leonard Maddox [code name: Griffith]. Born into this world as an anomaly, Leonard possesses large tan wings, and the feet of a lion. He is captured by a group of mysterious men; he simply calls The White Suits. Leonard later signs on with the team and awaits the arrival of the sixth member, and instructions as to their role in coming events. This is where Patience or Passion, the first story arc begins. Leonard, restless struggles with waiting for the next member. He often takes his anger out on the evil that lurks in the city’s dark places. On numerous occasions, against Z’s instructions Leonard leaves the safety of The Sanctuary, a rundown church that serves as the team’s base of operations, in order to fight crime. When it is announced that billion-dollar corporation DOZTECH INDUSTRIES is set to begin production on project: Cypacor, robotic policing units for the city. Christopher Dozman, younger brother to DOZTECH owner Mitchell, has plans on using these Robots for his own twisted will. Christopher has been in and out of the insane ward, honing in his abilities to control minds. With the pending arrival of sixth member, a raped and murdered medical student named Grace Chambers [code name: Remedy], the team embarks on an intelligence mission following the Doztech company. While out near a Doztech warehouse Leonard spots men in white suits. Fueled by anger from his past, Leonard blindly follows them against orders. He falls into a trap that leads to the removal of his feet, and one of his wings. Before the removal of the second wing, the guys save him, and get him back to base, right in time for the 6th, Remedy, with her gift of healing, to help our broken friend.Disciple 6 is sure to leave fans of traditional comic art, team dynamics, complex characters, and exciting story lines begging for more. Though the religious overtones are prevalent and important to the authors, this is by no means a tale written only for religious thinkers. Nor should it be marketed that way. This is a story of faith – faith in a higher calling, faith in our own abilities and beliefs, and faith in each other. “God” is not a character in these stories, only The Scribe who acts on His behalf. If Hellboy, Spawn, Ghost Rider, and Johnny Constantine can exist in the comic realm, why not a team such as this? I am confident people will find these stories of struggles compelling, even if it happens to be the “good” supernatural being giving out all the cool powers!Disciple 6 is a creation of Matthew A. Rodriguez, with illustrations by Andrew Budnick. The entire 5 issue miniseries has been outlined and the opening act of issue one: An Ordinary Knight has been included in this submission. Thank you very much for this opportunity, and if you are looking for a comic that is authentic, and tells new and engaging stories, look no further. Welcome to the world of Disciple 6.

hey everyone. good to hear from you lately, and i miss talking on here. I think that doing facebook or myspace is easier, but this is a community, and a family that I need to stick with, and although those others are good also in their own right, I really think that we need to start making stronger bonds on here, and get to know each other a bit more. I will make an effort to do so.thanks and I will talk to you soon.matthew

Living in a Fallen World

Greetings friends and fellow believers. My name is Matthew. and this is my first entry :) One of my biggest struggles as a christian is the separation of the sacred and secular. The method to come together, as christians is one thing. but to separate yourselves as a whole and have little to no connection with the secular is a big problem for me. I always think, if a christians main goal is to spread the seed, share the message. how is that being accomplished on a christian radio station. or a christian book store. (both good things to some degree) but a part of me feels like alot of seeds are being thrown at trees. not in a good way. I have specific comics that i hope to publish under a christian label. and others under, non christain. this is because i hope to reach EVERYONE. there are alot of good things that get lost in the christain circles, and will never get out. because of the way christians segregate themselves. i know for a fact that christians can be used by satan. and god can use/speak through non believers. i am happy to find a place that christains can come and gather. but i also have to be true to my God and say that i want to be in the thick of it all. and be able to reach many with my creative gifts. so thank you for having me. and it will be great to hear from you all. God bless. and Keep dreaming.
