CHRISTIAN COMIC ARTS SOCIETY :: A NETWORK OF CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP FOR COMICS FANS, PROS, AND AMATEURS

Greetings from Manneristic Studios

Greetings fellow artists

My name is DaShawn but please feel free to call me Shawn. I am the CEO, Owner and Publisher for Manneristic Studios, a small Christian 3D animation studio. We are currently venturing into comics and book production. We also have a few books hitting the market in October. Its great to see a large group of Christian artists and all in one happy place. My goal as a publisher and creator is to create strong Christian content that Christian comic fans and secular fans for that matter will embrace and be very proud to support.

Our first project will be released at the New York Comic Con this October. The series is called Redemption Draws Nigh: Year One. The book is unique in all fashions with the story and the techniques used. This is a 3D comic, but it will be unlike any other you have ever seen! We would love your support and your help to follow the project and spread the word about it. We are on:

Please become a fan and follow along. The seed of faith you sow into this project will one come back to be a blessing to you and everyone in your life!

I am also looking for new talent, from artists, writers and content. My goal is to have a full publishing company that will 100% embrace and support the Christian Comic Book artists. So please contact me!

Thank you for letting me be a part of your community and may God bless each of you in all that you do!

Shawn

PS: The project Promo poster is attached also.

  •  Hi Shawn!

I like the 3D work, it's very far from what I'm used to but I can see how God can use it. My kids love this kind of stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

  • Hey! Welcome aboard.

Curiosity: How are you building your 3D characters, rigging them,  and what are you using to render out?

    Looking snappy.

  • Why, thank you :) I have a lot of Pinterest boards with "Story:" in the title. Feel free to pull images from my Figures and Poses and Art Inspiration boards too.

Hey Paula, let me say starting a pintrest for your story ideas is genius! Having all sorts of imagery and references in one place to draw from..I am totally stealing that Idea!

  • Sure :)
I have to admit I have no idea what to do past the inking stage, or who is really going to publish it. It isn't a kids' comic, and it isn't what I consider secular, but not a Christ analogy or a literal interpretation of spiritual gifts or armor of God. There are some heavy issues in the story - human trafficking is a major one - and I feel I'm writing something I wouldn't want my son to read for a few more years, you know?
I don't know enough about the state of comics publishing to know where to send it. But, that can be dealt with once the ink dries.
In the meantime, I'll blog here about my progress, and keep building up the Pinterest board.

  • It doesn't have an official name yet - I'm calling it Pen & Kail for the two main characters. Sometime in the far future I'm probably going to need a colorist, but until I get there, I can do writing, pencil, and ink myself. I have more of a fine arts background, so figuring out how to construct and lay out the story is taking up more time than I imagine it would for someone who's done a graphic narrative before. I have a Pinterest board about it here: http://pinterest.com/roseaponi/story-pen-kail/ It's pretty much a collection of images that put me in mind of the story.

  • Welcome! I'm new here as well - I was rather startled to find that there was a society and website and all :) Joining here has really given me some hope and motivation to continue with my own project.
