The comment wall seems to be a pretty loose discussion of the Con in general.
I think it should literally be in a floating city. I'd definitely come.

Or, if there is sufficient market in each location, a separate Xn Con in each, tied to each territory.
But we still need to start with the first one, and learn from that and from the mistakes (that will inevitably happen) how to make it better next time. Then grow from there.
But it starts with the first one, which does not even have funding yet. And soliciting funds means having specs ready to justify the request for donations, and we don't even have the specs ready yet.
But Ralph et al. are working on getting the specs together. Lists of things needed to make it happen, and lists of costs of those things. Boring detail stuff I don't even want to think about right now, but someone has to, and thank God some are.
I think the audience for this con is pretty straightforward. It's for Christians. It's for NON-Christians who are FRIENDLY toward Christian culture and its place in society. It's for NON-Christians who are curious to see what a CHRISTIAN COMIC CON would involve. And the rules of the gathering shall require that all attendees show RESPECT and be RESPECTFUL of each other. And it is for any who like writing, imaginative fiction and art. I think that's an adequately specific group.
I need to ask two related questions - what's the purpose of this comment wall? Is it a place to post and collect ideas, or is it a place to discuss one specific topic at a time?
Additionally, what about the idea of having it in a "floating city" (not LITERALLY floating--though that would be cool)...each year would be in a different city. Some committee in charge could come up with REGIONS and the show could move from region to region.
By the way, if we do head in thedirection that some people have been mentioning of making this evangelistic event, anyone thought of the convention being along the lines of a youth conference? (Not saying it has to be geared towards youth, but perhaps include speakers such as evangelists and such, just maybe) Then again, I'm not really sure if that's what we're really gearing up for here though. Just a thought.
Speaking of the East Coast, New York City anyone? Seriously, if we're starting with L.A., we might as well do NYC next. :D
Just jumping in. So many things I'd like to comment on, but I'll just pick a few.
First, would the desire be for this to appeal solely to Christians, or to be something nonChristians would be able to go to? If this could be a place where it's shown that Christians aren't all standing on street corners yelling at con goers they are going to hell (we've all met those guys) it could do some work to help some nonbelievers draw closer to the faith. I think Hailey is right on that there can be a lot good material that appeals to the geeky Christian crowd (myself among them), and a convention like this would be huge in helping to organize such efforts.
Also, parts of the con that are specifically geared toward presenting the gospel (panels where the gospel is presented) would be cool. Use this con to not just gather those that are saved, but to actively seek and save the lost. Could also train those who come on how to go to other conventions (that desperately need a Christian presence) and have conversations with people there about the gospel. Just some thoughts.
Also, being in Charlotte, I would be very interested in seeing something like this happen on the East Coast. Charlotte or Atlanta would probably be cities it would be possible to organize something like this in because of the number of Christian organizations that already operate in this area. I'd love to see it happen, or even play a part in making it happen.
