If you keep your text and bubbles on a separate layer, then you can color the entire panel, and simply position the words wherever you want without worry. It does mean that there is a full image underneath, which means a little more drawing to be done, but I prefer it that way.
I am torn. I am going to do the letters during the inking stage. But only draw back is that if the colorist colors around the text bubbles, and you find you have to edit text or move a bubble then you are back to having to color the blank area... But as always I learn something from watching you work. I flat in MS but now I am going to start adding tones and see what I get
