Hey all. Just posted part two of BRYN. I'm trying a smaller update, just two pages this time. Still kind of feeling my way along with this.
BIBLE MATH
Joe Chiappetta, May 4, 2020
This article (and accompanying animated artwork) came about in a most-riveting, creative, and spiritual way. For over two decades, I have been leading weekly Bible Discussion Groups and studying the Bible with people on an individual mentoring level. In the course of these spiritual adventures, as part of the City of Angels International Christian Church, I am typically delighted to share the gospel with all who are willing to listen and put the word of God into practice. Such delight is especially true of the following Bible study.
Recently one of the attendees of our Bible Discussion Group, my friend, colleague, and quantum mathematician, Dave D'Silva, in the course of his ongoing development of Energy Cloud City™ (which you can read more about at http://energycloudcity.com/) asked me a pivotal question; "Can you think of any scriptures where the Bible talks about mathematics in a quantum or value-added manner?" Almost without hesitation, I said "Yes" with great excitement. And the rest was pure joy and discovery into the remarkable world of Bible Math.
As a backdrop to wade into the vast depth of Bible Math, Dave and I spent some time talking about his incredible smart city plan known as Energy Cloud City. He approached me with a request to see which Bible passages may exist that would be applicable as support references to the ethical city planning he wrote into the Energy Cloud City design. In essence, I consulted with Dave to reverse-engineer the parables and preaching of Jesus, identifying how the miraculous math of God leads everywhere from power grids to power prayers. Together, we looked at where relevant scriptures can be applied to smart city design--either as practical nuggets of design wisdom, beacons of faith, or as metaphors of civic inspiration. After doing this for a number of days, I came up with two loud and humbling conclusions:
- Energy Cloud City, once built, will be a physically magnificent oasis and wonderful destination that serves as a magnet for futuristic technology, smart living, and Biblical ethics... and I, by the grace of God, played an important part in this city's development.
- The Bible, which I already knew as entirely awesome, is even more awesome!
The mathematics of the Bible is not the typical math learned in most schools; it's better by far. Indeed, the math described throughout the scriptures is more empowering, more liberating, more inspiring, and full of more life-enhancing formulas than all the other math books combined. This is not to say that the Bible is merely a math book; the Bible is the way to know who we are, who God is, as well as how to love God and love each other. Additionally, the way the Bible touches on mathematics is soothing to the soul, giving light to the eyes, and even reviving the dead. Here are some incredible examples to help us see that Bible Math not only adds up perfectly, it also is designed to multiply in each reader a faithful, joyful, healthy, and productive outlook on life, now and forevermore!
Relationship with God
Jeremiah 29:11-14
[11] "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. [12] Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. [13] You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. [14] I will be found by you,' declares the LORD, 'and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,' declares the LORD, 'and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.'"
- Finding God requires 100% of your heart.
- 99% is not sufficient.
- Seeking God with 100% of your heart = freedom from captivity.
- A hopeful future and prosperity requires a specific spiritual velocity: 100% of your heart.
2 Chronicles 16:9
"For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...."
- When at full commitment (100%), more power is given.
- 100% capacity (with God) leads to 100%+ capacity.
[4] "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. [5] Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: [6] He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun."
- Happiness does not come from serving self.
- Happiness comes from delighting in the Lord.
- Becoming sincerely delighted about the Lord results in receiving the deepest gifts.
- Lasting success and justice are the byproducts of great relationship with God.
- Repositioning your way to the Lord's way is the key to renewable, incredibly bright energy.
- When directed at God (not self), Delight + Commitment + Trust = Radiant Victory.
1 John 3:16
"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters."
- Prior to his resurrection, Jesus laid down his life for us; he became nothing.
- 1 - 1 = 0
- 1 - 1 = Love
- Knowing about Jesus' selfless love should inspire us to love him and others more.
- Subtracting self can be a demonstration of love; it can improve relationships.

Hello everyone,
I was interviewed by Religion Unplugged. We discuss THE SWORD OF EDEN graphic novel, as well as my career in comics and animation. We talked about Christian comics, "spirituality" and the Truth in comics while sharing the Gospel message…

BRYN, part one, is officially online!
(Only minor lettering corrections from the preview posted here earlier.)
So this is the project I've been working on for months now. I don't have a release schedule, but I'm thinking about just releasing sections as I finish them. I haven't officially launched yet, but I'm at the place where I need to get it out there.
Since 1985, I have been a huge fan of the CEREBUS comic book series. Dave Sim (writer, artist, and creator the CEREBUS) has read THE SWORD OF EDEN. In Dave’s Weekly Update on Youtube, Dave reviews my graphic novel...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9hk1pJyNEI
Dave Sim: “This guy ain’t no rookie. Let me tell you that.” And “Just an amazing, amazing piece of work.” And “I really can’t say enough good things about THE SWORD OF EDEN.” And “Biggest tip of the year: Don’t miss Al Nickerson’s THE SWORD OF EDEN, if you can possibly help it.”
Find out what Dave Sim is talking about. Purchase your copy of THE SWORD OF EDEN at CBD/Christianbooks.com…
As California hunkers deeper into Corona Virus isolation, many churches (mine included) are being forced to seriously consider virtual church services. This forces praise teams, worship leaders, sunday school teachers and pastors into steep learning curves as they scramble to aquire and use the Apps and software that will get their voices online.
Geeks of goodwill! Now is the time to contact your churches and voluteer your social media and recording abilities. Let them know you are willing and able to lend a keyboard and knowhow to getting Gods word to the isolated. Go! Go!
For a long time now, I've had an idea for a virtual indie convention - an attractive site to easily search through various media and genres of indie creators and buy from them directly, to lessen the dependence on big corporations for entertainment and publicity.
Now, with the pandemic, small businesses are shutting their doors - perhaps forever. Conventions and other places for indie creators to gain visibility are shut down. These smaller creatives have run close to the budget for years now and they don't have much to fall back on.
I can't sit on this idea any longer. It is quite literally now or never. I'm going for it.

More is coming.
Take care, everybody.
May God bless you and give you strength and peace.
This happened on February 23, and I've only told one person until now. There aren't a lot of venues to tell this sort of thing anyway, but my creative brothers and sisters here will understand :)
I've been working with my friend Christen, who is a wonderful musician, to compose a melody for a lullaby I've written for the comic. This song is important to my main character because she learned it from her mother, and it becomes more significant over the course of the series. I'd been struggling with how I can afford to do everything I want to do with SoulBound, and trying to pull together enough knowledge to someday, maybe, possibly adapt it as an animated series. As a sort of pie-in-the-sky pipe dream - I have a lot of those, and usually they fade and are replaced with something else, but this one was quite insistent. So I started outlining what I'd need to actually do it, while also trying not to take it too seriously and break my heart by failing.
Here's part of the email I sent Christen the day after I had an actual real-life vision about it:
Yesterday, I was so tired I just wanted to sit and close my eyes, and when I did, I *saw* the intro to the series, just like I was watching it on tv. It was spooky, this hardly ever happens, and it honestly felt like God saying to go ahead, He'll let it happen. So I hurried up and wrote down a description of the intro so I wouldn't lose what it all looked like before I could storyboard it out. There's no dialogue for the first few minutes. It was all silent and I didn't know what the soundtrack for that section would be.
And so while I was listening to the teaser I realized that was it, it's all come together, you just sent it to me.
And now I'm kind of overwhelmed because SO MUCH is here and it's still such a tiny part of the entire project. O.O
God is good... and this is what I'm meant to be doing, and past that, I don't know anything else at all. My brain might have broken a little. Naturally I'm crying when I think about it too, so there's that to deal with before I can make sense again... XD.
Somehow I'm creating 10 issues of a comic, also got confirmation that a novel adaptation would likely be successful, and also, somehow, the animated series too and this is only one of my stories. I have no idea how and it's all completely beyond me.
I'm still not over it and I'm still crying when I think about it! This is such a weird thing to have a vision about. If I'm this broken and humbled by the possibility of producing a cartoon, imagine what a vision of Jesus would've done to me. o.O Yeah I think that's as much as I can handle. XD It was so real! I'm terrified of dropping the ball now. I always prayed that whatever God wanted for me, that He'd make it obvious so I can't miss it - but I didn't think I'd be tired and grumpy and starting a headache and close my eyes a minute and then watch the intro for my series pilot play out.
So this is what I'm meant to do. It's going to take a team and it'll be such a huge responsibility to do right by them, but evidently I'm ready enough to think of it now?
Last month I did the Hourly Comic Day challenge. I decided to do one large panel an hour, and use it to develop a character from BRYN, my WIP project.
"A Day In The Life Of Sophie Brice, aka Anthem"
Created in approximately 15 hrs. on 2-1-2020
Hello all,
I haven't been too active here since my comic ended, but I thought I'd drop in.
I've been working on a new project called BRYN. BRYN is very different than anything I've done before, much less light-hearted. It's a superhero-esque story that deals with abuse recovery and CPTSD. It's been the most emotionally draining thing I've ever written or drawn.
I've been posting a lot on Twitter and Instagram. I've been doing a lot of sketch cards and art challenges and so forth.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Hi CCAS friends,
I have a new Kickstarter that has just begun. It's for the Gospel of Matthew Word for Word Bible Comic.
Please come and have a look and grab yourself a copy.
Please help in these three ways :
You can download the sample PDF here
Yeah, I posted a new panel at my webcomic, Glymyre Tales! Chirard and the rest are setting up watches as they spend the night at the courthouse of a little village that has been made a ghost town almost overnight. If you want to check it out, just click here!
I lead a number of rare digital art communities and just posted some guidelines about what makes for great art in the rare digital art market. These actually are written to have universal application for all creators.

Mrs.Paula Richey of OtherRealm Studio has just published the first comic book in her series titled "Soulbound'. It's a fantastic book, a great beginning to what looks to be an exciting fantasy story, both enchanting at times, and terrifying at others.
