Strange things we do for art.

As of joining CCAS yesterday I am in the middle of the seventh book of the graphic novel series I'm working on, Archipelago, which can be read at Archipelagocomic.com for free. Yesterday I found myself making strange noises as I tried to come up with the funniest sound effect for an exploding pillow. "Boomph! Whump! Foof! Bloph!" A few days before that, I was contemplating buying a few muscle builder magazines, just so that I could cut out the noses of the men in the pictures to use for shading reference on faces.

Do you ever find yourself thinking or doing odd things for the sake of a project? Or am I slowly going crazy(er)?

  • I guess what I do is strange...sometimes when I am very satisfied with how my work came out I feel the need to walk around imagining other people reading my work and knowing their reactions.

Btw Archielago looks pretty interesting from what I read so far.
