Yaakob bar Zebadyah 01

James the Apostle, or Yaakob bar Zebadyah, as he would have been called in Aramaic. This is another character study for my next graphic novel. I'm not sure if this design will fit the character or will be effective, so I'm still trying.

What kind of person was this James/Yaakob? I did some digging into history and scripture and came up with a personal profile. You can find it on my website:

In this picture, James/Yaakob wears the typical attire of a 1st century Judean man: a worn-down, one-piece tunic. He also wears a head wrapping against sweat. I imagine him as a traditional man, so he wears his long Judean sidelocks (peyot).

Outlines: brush pen. Colors: Photoshop.
