These are two pages of a comicbook that Waverly has done. I would love some constructive feedback to pass on to him!

  • Thanks so much Brien! Those sound like great tips. I will pass them on to Waverly.
  • Waverly has some nice technique! Details and proportions are well done, and the over all composition is great. The feathers and musculature are stylized to the point of being patterns, which is fine as an artistic style; coupled with the bright colors the effect is almost like a stained glass window. As an experiment, it might be cool to take a version of this finished picture and make it even more stained-glass in style. Could be cool.

    2) Unless the identities of the two arch angels are immediately important, I would remove their name plates.

    3) The two arch angels look off to the left, the three lower angels are looking forward; I suggest having them look in the same general direction.

    4) Since conflict is imminent, I suggest a darker, stormier sky. Darker background would make his characters standout more and give him an excuse to use directional lighting, which would increase the depth and drama of this really fine splash page.  This applies to the demon page as well, which could be done in darker and more threatening colors.

The two pics are great stuff!!
