Me and other Christians feel that tithing is unnecessary, since it's Old Testament law applied to the Isrealites and that we are not bound by the law anymore, after Jesus rose from the grave. Many preachers have used those verses as an excuse to get rich from their congreation.
I am not against giving money to the church, because the church needs it for keeping the church working, giving the pastor some income to take care of his family, and funding missionaries and other groups to preach the gospel. But theres no requirement for giving a certain amount now. The tithe was always food!

thank you for being courageous in taking this one. It is still an issue for me. I tithe regularly and it is hard. I noticed thought that when my heart changed from dreading to give the 10% to looking forward to giving it and not including it as part of my budget. It got easier
