Practice makes perfect. Study all the masters of the medium. Experiment. Get a copy of "Rendering in Pen and Ink". I can't emphasize enough on studying all the greats and just doing it. Find your voice.
10 hours all up for something like this is FAST. Does that include concept sketching and layout?
Would you be willing at any stage to pass on some of your inking knowledge to us ametuers by tutorials at some stage? I'd be dying to learn. How did you learn?
The pencil drawring was about 2 hours max I guess. Inking was 6-8 hours. I have 2 bottles of ink. One is diluted and I tend to apply in pools and have to allow certain areas to dry before proceeding. So that adds to the time a bit.
