Here is Shimon bar Yonah, (a.k.a. Saint Peter) fisherman, apostle and leader of the early church. Also called "Kepha" ("stone") in Aramaic. This is a character design draft for my upcoming graphic novel "The Reign of God" (book 2).
These days, I'm studying the fishing economy and fishermen's daily life at the Sea of Galilee. I want to understand and imagine what a fisher's life would have been like at the time of Jesus to create believable characters. It's very interesting. The simple tunic is based on 1st century Judean clothing, but during work, fishers would often be naked as they had to dive into the water.

Wow, that's a great comment! Thanks heaps! Based on that, it might be worth designing the belt into something that could be taken off and on easily.
One early morning I saw Sicilian fisherman launching a boat off of a steep beach. The four of them carried the heavy wooden boat down to the surf line, then three of them stripped off their clothing in what seamed like seconds and tossed their clothing into the boat. They pushed the boat into the rough surf then one...two...three they were in the boat and paddling furiously to get past the waves. It was amazingly efficient.
Peter's outfit looks entirely realistic for a beach launch.
