Interesting. . . I often wonder how commentators come up with certain ideas - in this case since there really isn't much of a physical description of Samson. Similarly the way Christ has been portrayed as a 'Screech' or scrawny physique - ignores the fact that his trade was a carpenter who worked with wood and stone in Roman times.
With regard to Samson, even though his strength came from the Lord, he did seem to have some fighting skill as well - which could lend itself to a more developed physique. Who knows!? LOL!!
But since there is no definitive description of Samson in the Bible - we'll know when we see him in Heaven!

...Funny, but I heard one commentator speculate that Samson may have looked the opposite of this. Kinda scrawny. Which was why many were puzzled as to where his strength came from, and would give that much glory to God.
So, imagine Screech from "Saved By The Bell" as Samson. ...Wow.
