RK-Series_Face_Concept2

Second attempt. I tried making the features a gave it a bit of colour. This one's a female of the species, though, so I might base future females off this design.

  • Hadn't considered the elbows. I could see that working with an extra section of the limb or just lengthened metatarsals. I'm also debating whether to make the hands and feet drastically different (e.g. humanoid hand but a more bird-like foot).

  • I like some of the ideas here. Another possible manipulation for a more alien look is bending the limb hinge-joints in the opposite direction; ie knees that bend backward or elbows that bend forward.

  • how about a thick body with low center of gravity, but two sets of arms ones for heavy lifting and another set for intricate fine work. smaller arms have a fine layer of "hair like" fibers on palm of a six figured hand (two apposing thumbs) for better sense of touch, while the larger more muscular arms have two fingers and an one apposing thumb for stronger grip. Legs are think with strong knees and ankles. Im letting my imagination run while I take a short break from writing my own script this morning. Good luck on what you come up with.

  • Coming up with a body type is tricky. Like you said I want to stay away from the "skinny-reptile-insect" mold and try something new, but I also can't have the characters looking too "abstract" or "alien". They're a race of labourers, primarily suited to building large and complex machinery, so I want a design that would allow for a great deal of dexterity but also showcase their significant strength. They also have to be able to operate in a human world, so I might need to keep some human-like features so they can, say, ride a bike or plausibly have a human see a bit of himself in one of the creatures. So far my plan has just been to add "useful" animal qualities (e.g. a gecko's toe pads, cheetah-like vertebrae) and a few out-of-the-ordinary attributes (e.g. ridges next to the spine to protect it, the gill-like structures on the head), but I am praying for inspiration. Thanks for the encouragement!

  • I like how you character design its coming. You made a great transition from "aggressive" to "downtrodden". Any idea on the alien body type? Try something out of the ordinary. Most people go with the "skinny-reptilian-insect" look (I think is a subliminal throw back to the Original Star Ship Troopers Novel). Push your limits, allow God the master creator to influence your creativity... try something daring and new!
