A preliminary sketch I did in Photoshop. It's a character template for the protagonist's species in a story I'm writing, though I'd like them to look a little less threatening and a little more downtrodden to be honest.

Thanks for the input! I think maybe I'll give them a few more human features (like actual lips) so I can show that better.
Nicely designed face; one that looks both alien yet capable of showing recognizable expressions. The face does look a bit threatening. Pulling up human faces with obvious or even exaggerated expressions of dispair could give you features you want to work into this face, perhaps a long drooping lower jaw or bags under the eyes...
