progress

Was asked for an example of my work, since I haven't posted for awhile and my rule of only draw women was mentioned. Threw it together this afternoon. Comment if you like to.

  • Thanks Brian.

    That's actually very encouraging.

The only thing I wanna clarify is there are 3 different characters up top.  I guess I better work on variation and composition if they all look the same.

  • Nice motion and emotion in the poses. Weapons and poses are well handled. I like this character.

You mentioned in other posts that you're working on female form.  The classic Female warrior figures (Red Sonja for example) are always on the edge of unreality because the "appealing" female figure has slender limbs, narrow shoulders and wide hips.  Those are poor features for a warrior, but Comic-fantasies take us into appealing unrealities if we're willing to follow, and often its because we make a connection to one or more of the characters within say, the first five pages.  I find this character(above three poses) more believable than many of the classic female warrior figures, and would definitely follow her progress through five pages of a novel or comic to see if I liked her personality; and I would call that an artistic success.

  • Wow, DL.  You're fast.  Liked within 24 seconds of posted.  next one I post you'd better like in 23 seconds, or we'll have some words;)
