CHRISTIAN COMIC ARTS SOCIETY :: A NETWORK OF CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP FOR COMICS FANS, PROS, AND AMATEURS

Name It & Claim It

It's been a while since I posted and drew something! Sorry to keep my followers/fans waiting! I even put in my characters from Modern Christians into it!

Believe it or not, there are pastors who teach this nonsense. Mixing New Age or Occultic beliefs with Christanity, and teaching that our words have the power to alter reality. And that we can get anything we desire, because of our words. We can treat God like He's our genie or something.

They teach things like "Say or think positive things over and over, and you'll have good things happen to you. The same is true with negative thoughts or words."

Where does the Bible teach this? When bad things happen to me, which were out of my control, was it because of my words or thoughts? Negative energy or faith?

Feel free to discuss this further with me if you like.

  • Yeah, it's pretty sad how many Word Of Faith teachers teach that we can influence what God gives us.

  • I have argued this a few times. I came from a church who preached bring bad things on your self when you speak negatively because "the power of life and death is in the tongue." I posed question then why is that if I speak a single negative word or idea, then all of the possible evils will happen. But when I speak positive nothing happens. I was told that I didn't have enough faith, that the God was working in my favor. I then said posed to them "is God's Sovereignty Power and Will is depended on my faith? because if that is so then I can control God with my faith." I was told I think too much. I left that church. But the problem is that in my community there are many churches that hold this (and many other) false teachings.

  • I agree Gerald. I do believe God listens to us and is willing to anwser our prayers when we want something, but only if it's best for us, since only God knows if what we ask for will cause us to stumble. He knows whats best for us.

  • Hi David, thank you for sharing the strip. I think we all need to remember to add 'Yet not my will but Thine be done' to our prayers. In time I may even really understand and mean it...
