Marcus...yes, Saul/Paul was indeed a highly educated man, but my research also shows he was much more (including a sail & tent maker...most likely in his younger days). But to put this particular illustration in perspective...at this point in book, this image appears after showing Saul going through 3 years of physical and emotional seasoning and conditioning in the wilds of Sinai. He states in the narration, "my body has been chiseled lean and hard by the elements and gone is any trace of body fat from my life of opulence."
