DARKNESS-The Anti-hero

something from my studio days at Top Cow. I did this back in 98. Only had a xerox...the original went missing.

Have been asked if I would offer as a print. Redrew it and inked it.

Will have the Print available for sale at cons and you can message through the here...if interest it in purchasing one.

  • Ha , Ha  Very well put , Nice Work

  • I will answer your question first...with the Merriam-Webster Dictionary's definition:

a main character in a book, play, movie, etc., who does not have the usual good qualities that are expected in a hero.

The anti-hero. Are characters like Batman/ The Punisher/ the Comedian from the Watchmen.  This is just a few examples of the concept of the anti-hero.....Electra from Daredevil's universe.

I will venture to say, that Frank Miller and Alan Moore are the two creator/writers who brought this concept into the comicbook medium.  There might be others, but F.Miller did it at both  Marvel and DC....he introduce this concept in Daredevil...when he created Electra and did it with DC when he was allow to revamp Batman into the Dark Knight due to slumped sales.

in the case...of the Darkness....he was/is a hit-man for the mob.  So, when his powers were activated....he was throwned into being a player in the battle between Dark Vs Light.

His power is the power of Darkness...allowing him to form anything he can conceive in and with his mind! And His power diminished anytime he is out in sunlight.  I think his abilities have change over the years.....Originally, I think he was at full strength at Night or in Darkness only.....he can only materialize his minions/demons known as Darklings at night.  I think now...he can use his powers anytime as long as he is not expose to direct sunlight.

But I think you can google it.  The Darkness is own by Top Cow/Image comics
