Contemplative Prayer

Comtemplative prayer is getting more popular and accepted in churches today, especially in the Emergent Churches. Even though it has it's roots in ancient mysticism and paganism. Yet somehow, people don't seem to know or question that. Contemplative prayer, even "breath prayer" gives an impression of holyness and feeling close to God or experiencing Him. Or that they seem to think the more they repeat their words, the more likely God will listen. But Jesus has made it clear that we are not to do this. And I don't see why anyone would want to either since, whats the point if God already knows what we need? Once is enough in just 1 prayer. Vain repetiton, shallow prayers and words said over and over without a clear mind make us look like other false religions.

Besides the verse I use in my art, Jesus continues on, showing how we should pray in Matthew 6: 9-13, also known as The Lord's Prayer. The perfect prayer. Or what we should pray when we can't think of anything to pray about.
