Comforting words

This is a concept panal for my someday comic. I tried sketching out the three frames on an 11x17, photographing the panal and using photoshop to shrink the panal. One interesting side-effect is the grayish tinge to the panal.

  • I'm loving the details, it really draws me in looking at their faces.

  • 1) Juan Carneros and Esperanza Verdugo are two canine teenagers in the someday strip Californios 1830.

    2) In answer to Sven's question,  this panal was created to try out different poses and expressions with these characters  (Maybe it could be used in a future "Write a clever dialogue for this panal" contest.   I'd been working hard on my pencil-techique, only to see my detail work disappear as I inked, scanned the photoshopped.  I took Melchizedek Todd up on his teaching-by-phone/internet offer(he's good!), got some great ideas and techniques, and cranked this panal out in 3hours.

  • I like the gray tinge though... Very nice shading effects and background.
