Inked, then colored with Photoshop7. Word balloons done with Comic Life2.

About an hour to pencil + ink, then 3+ hours to color and another hour to do words and final upload...and Lord willing it turns out well.

I've been using Photoshop7 for over two years because...I bought it at Costco on special. PS7 also has word balloons as stamps but I found I increasingly wanted to change the shape, particularly of the stem and couldn't really do that with PS7. I force myself to create word balloons before I color so I can adjust the size and placement of characters and balloons in a pic without color layers in the way.

Looking good. do you have Adobe Illustrator? You can do balloons on there.
