  • Hi Tim
Yep, Praise God! As you know, prayer is awesome.

The inspiration & concept came about after hitting a brick wall myself on another character I was considering. Then I thought about to costumes 2 others characters in the past & decided to keep the design & tweak it for 2 new characters. I wanted 2 characters that I could involve much of their personal lives into the story. I like the "Stan-Lee ara" where the experiences of the super-hero's personal life, has as much of an impact as much as their "superhero" life. The more I thought about it,.....2 teenage characters seemed like the best way to go. As for the theme: I wanted it to correspond to character names: That they're more than conquerors (Reference to Romans 8:35-37), whether they are facing, robots, super-villains, or normal things (Gangs, final Exams, peer presure, etc...).

That theme along with the elements from the classic Marvel-Comics style action of the late 70's, was the foundation I built the concept on.

It took over 12 months to confirm if I should embark on the production (you know: time, skill, & "MONEY" oof!!). Then it took a little over 14 months to start & finish the project, since I had to do all the art myself. (Which is why I'm worn out. ughh!)

As for the scripture, aside from Rom.8:35-37, other scriptures came to mind when I added dialogue to different scenes, because they just seemed to fit the situations.

That's about it. But I praise God that he got me through this.

    Peace
  • Hi Tim,
Thanks for the compliments. My book is in print & the work wore me out. I pray you get some success for your projects though. But welcome to the world of CCAS. I'm sure you've seen the talent that the Lord has on this domain.

    God Bless
  • In all honesty, you'll have better luck if you can afford to pay the folks who help. We've all been 'victims' of free work/art fro someone with a great idea (at least three for me. Check out the Egg Boy strip and Elevated). For each of those features I gave in excess of a months hard work - partly because neither came with any character development.

I don't know how the rest of the cartoonists feel on CCAS but I know I'm not hungry enough to do that again any time soon. I'm proud of what I did, don't get me wrong and Egg Boy was created and written by a Christian friend of mine so there was value in collective creativity.

Glad you survived the layoffs. Just last week they cut 60 folks from our company and one was a good friend who I have been sharing the Lord with for more than 20 years (still holding off his life-changing decision!). Seeing someone let go in a staff group already badly constricted spooked me royally.
  • Hello, Timothy! Welcome to the CCAS network here!

By the way, my wife and I just launched a brand-new comic strip, BEST MANN ON THE JOB, hosted weekly on TitleTrakk. For links and previews, please check out my CCAS blog.

Happy Presidents' Day - God bless!

Consider the words of C.S. Lewis:
"If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and to earnestly hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I suggest that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at sea. We are far too easily pleased."
  • Ask away, Timothy! I'll try to answer to the best of my abilities. What's on your mind?
  • Welcome to the CCAS. You will find some very gifted brothers and sisters in the Lord on this site. I pray that you make some great connections. May the Lord bless you, your family, and the works of your hands.
