Announces the Release of Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two

Justin Martin, educator, writer and founder of R-Squared-Comicz is proud to release Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two, available today for purchase as a pdf on www.rsquaredcomicz.com. It is drawn and colored by Przemyslaw R. Dedelis and Lya, respectively. “Przemyslaw and Lya did an amazing job for [Lightweightz: The AnthologyPart One, and...are blowing my mind in new ways [with] Part Two,” says creator and writer Justin Martin.

Based on 1 Corinthians 12:7 ("Now to each one the manifestation of the spirit is given for the common good"), Part Two introduces readers to the remaining four Lightweightz, teenagers who discover they have unique abilities. As with Part OnePart Two focuses on the impact these abilities have on their lives, and their struggles in making sense of them. Each struggle is unique, and holds significant implications for who they will become.

It begins with Ayden the pusher, who begins to see just how much control he has over his situation. Next is Qasim the revealer, who's determined to use his ability to help others, despite the toll it takes on his personal life. There's Emi the adapter, who learns the hard way that it’s not about the ability, but about what you do with it. And finally there’s Gabriel the inscriber, whose ability makes him one of the most hunted and important characters for the events to come. “This time around, I wanted their abilities to be more central to their story, and for the stories to be a little more action-oriented,” says creator and writer Justin Martin. “Hopefully I’ve achieved these goals, and more importantly, convinced [readers] to care about each character.”

With Ayden's desire for significance, Qasim's commitment to doing the right thing, Emi's need to belong, and Gabriel's renewed purpose, Part Two gives readers a look into what motivates each character, and what lies ahead. And with a diverse group of characters and experiences, there’s something for everyone. So grab your copy, and let your light shine!

An update on Gabriel the Inscriber

Hey everyone,

I pray all is well. I wanted to give you a quick update on Gabriel the Inscriber from Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two. I’ve just finished a revised draft of his script, and will pass it along to Przemyslaw in about a week so he can begin drawing it. I’m now working on revising Emi’s script, and will pass hers along to him in a week or so as well. Here’s the character concept to refresh your memory, along with a blurb to hint at what’s in store.

For Gabriel, knowledge isn’t only power…it’s dangerous. After remembering a once-forgotten secret, he finds himself on the run and on a mission. What does he know that’s so important, and what does it have to do with the other Lightweightz?

Happy holidays and if you haven’t yet, check out the Kickstarter which ends Jan. 9th!

Hey everyone,

I know our hearts were saddened this past weekend upon hearing about the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut and the stabbings in China. As we approach this holiday season and afterwards, please continue to keep the families of those affected, and their respective communities in your thoughts and/or prayers.

On the comic front, I have a couple of quick updates:

(1) The first week got off to a strong start, with 47% of the project being funded! With this being my first Kickstarter campaign I didn’t know what to expect, so the amount of love and support I’ve received out the gate has been nothing short of amazing. To every backer and person who helped spread the word, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

(2) My goal for this week is to keep up the momentum from last week, and I believe that by people continuing to get the word out, we can make that happen.

(3) Colored pages are coming in, and they look great! So expect to see some colored pages real soon.

(4) Last but not least, I’ve been fortunate enough to have two great friends and fellow CCAS members who are also in the comic world share their thoughts on what they liked about Lightweightz: The Anthology Part One, and why people should support Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Two.

Again, thanks for helping the movement get off to a strong start, and I look forward to us achieving the same this week.

With Gratitude,

Justin

Hello everyone,

I pray all is well. After three long years, many late nights, and many hours of hard work, it is a blessing to announce that my first comic, Lightweightz: The Anthology Part One is now available for purchase! It's a 35-page pdf, and it's only $2! You can learn more about the comic and purchase it by checking out the links below. Soon I will be sending a follow-up e-mail with a trailer for the comic as well as a press-release in case you want to post it on your blogs/websites, and know of any individuals and websites to send it to.

What people are saying so far...

Want to know what people who have purchased the comic are saying about it? Then check out the link below:
What I'm aiming for...

Initially my primary goal was to just see the project through to completion, and I didn't care too much about how many copies I sold. I figured that since there are many comics out there for people to choose from, and given that this is my first release, it's best to keep my expectations very modest. While I'm not in this to make money, I've recently had a change of heart. It is only through the God's grace that this comic came to be, so there's nothing wrong with trusting in that same grace for the comic to do well. So I'm looking to sell anywhere from 1,000 to 1,500 copies at the minimum. If I only sold one copy I would be good (although thank God for me already surpassing that goal, lol!), but why not step out on faith?

Where you come in...

There are many ways you can help support me in this goal, and support what I'm doing in general. If you did one of these I would extremely grateful. If you did more than one, then I would be even more grateful than that, lol:
(1) Pray for me.
(2) Purchase the comic.
(3) Let others know about the comic and what I'm doing through sharing links to my website (www.rsquaredcomicz.com) and Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/RSquaredComicz) within your networks.

If you want to know more about the idea behind R-Squared Comicz and Lightweightz...

Here are a few resources to learn more, including two interviews I was fortunate enough to be asked to do:

About mehttp://www.rsquaredcomicz.com/about-2/about-me/ (and before you say something I know, I need a new picture, lol)

...and that brings me to the end...

That's all I have for now, and thanks for taking the time to read through this e-mail. Until the next update, take care, and have a blessed one!

Attribute Challenge Day 22: Elevator

Hello everyone,

I pray all is well. Normally I post for the attribute challenge at www.rsquaredcomicz.com, but WordPress is currently experiencing technical difficulties. Today's attribute is God and Jesus as elevators...

One of things I've been noticing more and more about my Christian walk is that things always work out for the better when I put God at the forefront. Sometimes, however, what "better" means to me is different than what it means to God. As a result, there are times when I feel like things didn't work out, when in actuality they did. I just had to look at the situation through God's lens, not my own. God's goal for me is clear: to use every experience I have to elevate me to become a better version of myself. In particular, to become the version of myself He calls me to be. Another way to put it is that as long as I acknowledge God's Lordship over my life, the times that I fall are still making me better, because I am falling upward.

Today's scripture comes from Romans 8:28, where Paul sums up this same notion:

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."

Until tomorrow, stay blessed and encouraged!
