Area(s) of Interest or Expertise:

I'm getting to be an old guy, but it's a little-known fact that until recently, my wife and I attended all four days of Comic-Con every year. We stopped because of the increasing expense and hassle and also because we worried about exposing our son to scantily-clad models and increased blood and gore. But I still love talking and reading about comic books and other sci-fi/fantasy media. As I've gotten older I've increasing viewed this stuff through the lens of my Christian world-view and I find that a lot of my favorite comic book stories pose a lot of important questions about truth (often coming up with the wrong answers) and that there is an opportunity to bring a gospel message in response (while we enjoy the cool art)

My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)

I received Jesus as my savior at an early age, but when I read scriptures that said things like "do not love the world or the things in the world" I worried about my love for Star Wars and other fantasy films and literature. In college Jesus really established His Lordship over my life. Age and maturity has helped turn around my early worries about whether I loved the world too much. I've experienced enough to know that while comics and other diversions of the imagination are great fun, nothing satisfies like Jesus, especially when our faith in Him is woven into those diversions.

Dream Job: (If you could have your dream job in the comics industry, what would it be?)

Editing a Christian imprint or reviewing and analyzing Comics with spiritual content.

Favorite Comic Creators:

Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Neal Adams, Brian Bolland, Alex Ross
