My Testimony: (We encourage members to share briefly about how their faith in Christ has impacted their lives.)
I grew up in a low middle class home in a small farm town in the midwest. My parents both were immigrants from Mexico. They moved to the United States for a better life. As a child I enjoyed video games, soccer and drawing. I would doodle in various notebooks throughout all my years in school I didn't think much of it then. I loved sci-fi books but hated school. God was semi present in my thoughts throughout these years I always knew he was there but didnt focus on him. In highschool I found performing arts specifically dancing. My creative itch was redirected into a physical art. I felt God's presence through movement it was odd to explain but I felt connected to God through dance. Throughout highschool I trained vigorously. It was enough to tryout and get accepted to a performing arts college in California a world renowned school. With my experience I traveled the world performing in Germany, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, and much more. This all brought me to Las Vegas performing with celebrities but there was something missing. I remember performing for a Latin Grammy event and looking around at my fellow dancers backstage. They were all looking for the next big thing on their devices
The next big celebrity, image, video. I realized this is not me i felt lost and disconnected. Every dance class I took was a video recorded to be posted on the internet to advertise themselves almost to glorify themselves. I wanted to live in the real world not the digital I wanted something real. Covid hit shortly after I was out of jobs. I deleted all my dancer socials disconnecting from the digital world. I started a new career in law enforcement. Through this job I had many hardships that brought me closer to God. My faith became the foundation of my life. I started drawing again creating comics because I enjoyed the power of story telling. I began wushu a chinese performing martial art. With this career I had lots of time off to reflect and discover what my purpose in life is. I continue to grow in my faith and do God's work creating art. One day I hope to do this full time if it is God's will. Now I am currently a student at Watts Atelier of the Arts and have created multiple comic series over the last 6 years.
