In the story "The Secret Origin of the Guardians" a character called Krona goes back in time to see the origin of the universe. What he sees is the hand of God in the act of creation (so much for evolution!).

Yes, it is. I met Gil in 1989 at DC's offices. I'm almost 6' 3", and still had to look up at him (very tall fellow!).
