I would highly recommend everyone interested in illustration, and/or a career in illustration take 10 minutes of their life out and watch this vid.
It's a a bit of a lecture by illustrator Bobby Chiu. In it you watch him paint a pretty amazing image of an old man while he expounds on art, how to go about bettering yourself in it, and how to approach making a career at it.
The volume is low, but it's good stuff.

ImagineFX is the best magazine out there for tutorials and staying up to date on what the trends are doing. If you have the cash I recommend it as a good investment.
That youtube you posted is repetitively boresome but instead of just saying that and not providing a difference, here's a recent post from a designer who has some okay ideas.
