  • When my kids and I collaborate it takes a long time for us to do our research.  My daughter writes urban or modern fairy tales which my son illustrates.  My son does super hero type comics.  We try to make them as scientifically accurate as possible.  It takes forever to see if there are any possible real world applications, proto-types for the ideas my son wants to run with.  We want the characters and story lines to be believable for an audience.  Of course with Fairy Tales there's a lot more latitude but still we try not to get overly complicated.  I do appreciate that the kids have a great attention to detail.  Its fantastic to work with them.

  • Only too glad Ray.

  • Thank you for all of your help Velynda. I greatly appreciate it
  • Okay.  Frank's work caught my eye right away when I joined. Brien Sparling is great, he could possibly help you out with another name if need be.  While my son is 21 years old, he's been drawing since he was very young. However, he doesn't have any experience in the arena of street gangs, or the mafia.  I do understand how that subject would be GREAT especially for young people.

  • Ok great, I will look into both styles and be sure to get back to you. Thanks!
  • Hey Ray,  my son is more the "jack Kirby" type of artist but you might want to look at the work of Frank Soto.

  • Hi Velynda, thank you for your comment!

Well, i have to say I am new to the comic world. But I do find them fascinating and a great way to tell a story. Esp for the youth, whom I am trying to reach.

My story involves the common man. No super heroes, sorry! Lol. It actually involves an Italian Mafia family vs a Latin Street gang. Very real life outreach here.

  • @Arnaldo Reyes, are you still looking for reviewers?  My daughter has been reviewing comics and animated movies for years.

  • Hi Ray, considering there are many different kinds of artists from the classic Jack Kirby, Anime, artists to use animals, or come up with a blend of ideas to create a unique profile all their own as did Steve Crespo, you'd need to be a bit more specific about your idea for a character.  Heroic or common man?  Bible character or parable?

The Family Man

Hi, everybody:I had an idea for a story that runs along the lines of Nicholas Cage's movie 'The Family Man', which had the hero of the movie have a chance to see his life as it might have been if he had made other choices. I wanted to get a Christian perspective on the idea. Any thoughts? Thanks and God Bless.

Alternate Batman origins

Hi, everybody:I have an idea for a character, The Raven, who is a crimefighter in the same vein as Batman, a grim ruthless hunter of the night, though he's only in his late teens. Im a little lost on how to make him that mean without using the same origin, which I obviously don't want to do. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks and God Bless.

I need help with a name.

Hi, everybody!Could anybody help me develop a name for a character? I have a character in mind for my Arabian Nights/ humor themed comic book. The type of character is the bully who won't come out and fight, but will instead scheme against and lie about the hero, while instigating others to fight them physically, sort of like Cliff Carmichael in the first run in Firestorm. He's arrogant, condescending and a coward, but you can't hit him without making it look like he's telling the truth. In my…
