As a comic book writer (and sometimes make believe comic artist,) I looked far and wide to learn about how to create comics. Books like Comics and Sequential Art and Graphic Storytelling and Visual Narrative showcase his mastery of the comic book medium...

  • Much appreciated, brother.

  • My pleasure. I've dealt with my share of naysayers too. I have to ask, though: What makes you think you can't reach that level? Keep at it. Your style may not be the same as Eisner's but there is no reason to think that you can't reach the same levels as he did. It could be that one day, people will speak of you in the same breath as Adams, Steranko and Eisner if you press on. All you have to do is continue practicing and giving your best to God. God Bless You.

  • I agree and thank you for your encouragement. I am very proud of my graphic design work, like the cover of my book 'Cane and Able' (http://bit.ly/2f5Nike), and my t-shirt designs, but I am still working to get the hang of my comic art style. Will Eisner is certainly intimidating, and despite my slight sarcasm, it is certainly because of men like him that I feel I'll never be on that professional level, but your kind words do encourage me to keep at it.

    Thanks, man!

  • Dear Mr. Matos:

In a lot of ways, Eisner was the 'grand old man' of graphic art. It is our challenge, and I believe Mr. Eisner would agree, to take what he and others have done and rise even further, to not put his work on a pedestal, but to use his work as a stepping stone, to rise even further and give our utmost for His highest. In the words of another great, Stan Lee, exelsior and God Bless you.
