As Christians, I think it's our duty to preach not only where righteousness comes from, but also where evil comes from. And it doesn't come from video games:
I agree. As a comic creator, though, I also defend the rights of creators not to sugar coat evil because its presence in a story doesn't always mean it is is being advocated. For example, a lot of Bible stories are often talked about like they're parables, but it wasn't made up. It happened! I think that goes to show how powerful just hearing about horrible things people do can work to reinforce our concept of brutality.
That being said, that doesn't mean kids need to see The Dark Knight. I was angry hearing babies cry when the Joker came on screen. "Parental guidance" shouldn't be a suggestion; it should be mandatory. I just hope we can find better ways to teach our children well without needing to police media too much. (I admittedly jumped the gun on assuming that would happen. I guess I read too much Alan Moore.)
What is implied here is that the catalyst for sin (ASIDE FROM OUR DARK AND DEPRAVED HEARTS) is what we see and hear. Thus, we must be wary of what we entertain our senses with. And, as parents, we must be wary of what we allow our children to see and hear.

"If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out."
