Hi All:

I was tooling with different techniques for drawing the face.  The left is one technique I've always defaulted to, the right is a newer technique I stumbled over online.  Which one do you think looks more organic? realistic? better?  etc.

Any comment is appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Personal opinion: Judging from the underlying blue line sketches, I think the technique on the left works better in practice, but the face on the right looks more natural out of the two.

  • Proportions on the right are a little more natural, it has a slight tilt to it which give a more thoughtful look. However, Dan has a point; there is a time in a story when the left face could be a good choice.

  • why not use both and have variation in your character faces?
